I see Craig Smith is being considered for an rep recall.

If this ageing over the top funny running old prop can represent NZ GB ought to murder them or give up international RL for good.

Poor Stankevitch, his pain must be worsening.

Problem is he was our best prop last season. Was never over the hill. He was a good player for us and should have been resigned once we started having injuries to forwards.

When u take into account Cayless and Pally and the other props they have its a measure of how good he still is if they are considering him

Because lets be honest Jerry would struggle to get into their squad.

Loads of people not available but they must be hard up if they ask Smith.

IMO he was past his best always at Wigan and it was the signing of the other old guy Pongia which led to them both having a purple patch that drove Wigan to the GF where the Bulls forwards easily tore them apart. Defo second rate now.

Maybe second rate but still better than any props we have now.

Second rate..i don't think so. I still remember when he got up from the physio seeing to him when someone had broken the line..he stood and sprinted after the guy and legged them up..second rate prop. He was big fast and experienced deffinately not second rate. Now he may have gone bit past it but not when he was at Wigan.

Dave. Man! how can say such blasphemous sacrilidge!@!!!
Last season smith was the best prop in Super League ...he was funking super human. the guy played his absolute guts out, he was an absolute inspiration and when i learned we werent giving him a new contract i was deeply upset.
his teammates loved him, remember that try he scored? Ive never seen Farrell so happy.

Ill say this, Craig smith is the most inspirational player ive seen in a wigan shirt, Farrell aside, in my time as fan for about 10 years or so (as soon as sky began its coverage over here). maybe ill get shot down over this, maybe not, but last season, i cant say enough good things about the guy

I seem to remember watching a Saturday/Sunday morning Oz RL programme on Sky about 4 weeks ago where Peter Sterling said that Craig Smith had been Newcastles' best player week in week out this season. Sorry DoD, I will take Sterlings opinion over yours any time :exc:

Smithy is still a good prop, apparently he's 100% effort for newcastle, from hit ups to his defense work. However, dont think he's that 'fresh' and might well not bother with NZ even if he is given the opp. Hes solid and gutsy, but a little past internationals now. Almost in the same way as TerryO is still a prop to be feared, but there is just younger fresher talent about that will end up representing your country.
For NZ they've got both Cayless boys, Pally, Rauhihi, asotasi, Wiki, Hutch Maiava etc

They are really not short in the decent props department are they?!

More quality depth than GB IMO!
