Adrian Lam names the Wigan Warriors 21-man squad to face Leigh Centurions.

One change as Kai Pearce-Paul replaces James McDonnell.

Leigh Centurions v Wigan Warriors, Mon 17th May, Leigh Sports Village, K.O. 7:45pm.

Adrian Lam has named the Wigan Warriors 21-man squad to face Leigh Centurions in the Betfred Super League this coming Monday (K.O. 7:45pm).

The Cherry and Whites will travel to Leigh Sports Village to face the Leythers for the second time this season, having narrowly beaten their local rivals in the opening round in March.

The game will hold extra significance, being that a limited number of spectators will be allowed back in to stadia for the first time in Rugby League in over a year.

Team news

On Friday young forward James McDonnell joined York City Knights on a two-week loan, making him unavailable for selection. Learn more HERE.

After being handed a Grade F charge (Unacceptable language based on national or ethnic origin), prop forward Tony Clubb will serve the second of an eight match ban. Full statement HERE.

Injury news

Club captain Tommy Leuluai remains unavailable with a sternum injury.

Oliver Gildart misses out as he gets closer to recovering from a groin injury which has kept the centre out of action so far this season.

Liam Marshall continues his recovery from a knee injury (ACL) sustained last September against Castleford Tigers.

Providing an update on the winger earlier this week, Lam said: “He’s trained with the full squad for the first time today (Thursday), they gave him a round of applause for getting back out there with them. He’s probably two weeks away.”

Half back Jai Field remains sidelined with a hamstring tear sustained in Round 1 against Leigh Centurions.

Same again for us with some positional changes. A chance for the players to put a few wrongs right.

I assume we will start with Manfredi, and so the back 5 would be French - Manfredi - Hardaker - Isa - Bibby.
Good to read that Marshall is close. Is Gildart going to play for us again?

Will the season ticket ourleague code come into play?

I have no doubt about Gildarts talent but if he walks into the squad at the expense of Bibby it will be a terrible decision.

Gildart is nailed on, he is the best centre in the Club by a country mile.

Gildart won't replace Bibby but Farrell at left centre.
I'd imagine Bibby will play wing until Marshall returns.

Sounds like marshall will be back before gildart. How exactly should gildart win his place back over Bibby? Go out on loan or something? The coaching team see what's happening in training and pick the best side based on that and performance in games. If and when they think gildarts ready, that's their call.
