Seeing as I dont live in Wigan, I dont get to see the local papers, on RLfans forums, there is a topic about an interview with Millward, were he says we are the biggest club and the best supported/best run club, and how the Saints fans are fickle, anybody care to enlighten the people on this board like myself who dont live in the Wigan area.

Millward quote "I'm so excited about Wigan at the moment because it's such an exciting time and when the fans follow you through a tough year it shows they believe we have a bright future too. You look at the other side and St Helens - with all the success they've had - can't get the fans that Wigan have had and they're a similar sized town. You ask which is the biggest club and it's Wigan by a mile. This club is better run behind the scenes and I'll be honest, no other club in this country- with the season we have had - would have increased their crowds. It shows that the number one area in Britain for rugby league is Wigan. The fans' support has galvanised us." Also on front page of Wigan Observer - Denis Betts could be poised to quit the club to join Gloucester Rugby Union Club. Spokesman for Glouc.confirms Denis had visited the club and observed a handful of coaching sessions. They are looking for a new defence coach.

Can't they have our defensive coach, he's hardly inspired our players this year? Even last Friday they managed to combine superb tackling with some absolutely dreadful mistakes.

Fraggle: I don't know much about the jobs of the backroom staff; but it also says that Betts' departure would increase Adrian Lam's chances of staying at the JJB! He does want to leave Wigan. It mentions that Millward is assisted by Andrew Farrar. If Betts goes then hopefully Lam would stay, but on previous postings I have read that some people are not too impressed with Andrew Farrar. If Betts left what would happen - would we keep Farrar and Lam or get rid of Farrar as well and take on someone else. What do you think?

I think Farrar should go, our defence has been noticably much worse ever since he came here as "defensive coach". I don't know what he's been teaching them, but we haven't half let in some soft tries this year. A defensive coach is supposed to make things better, not worse, and you've got to wonder if we might have been better off without a so-called defensive coach this year!

But from what you've said, it sounds like Farrer is being touted as Milly's assistant rather than Betts. It might do Denis good to get some experience elsewhere, he got the Wigan job through unfortunate circumstances rather than for his experience but I'm sure he'd admit he's still got lots to learn.

As far away from here as possible. He's said he's looking for work outside the sport, so hopefully we won't have to see his ugly mush ever again.

IAN MILLWARDS BARMY ARMY

There, it's happened, he is officially my favourite man, goodbye Ian Smith goodbye Lammy, make room for my new man.

He's right though about the support, been a "bad" year for rugby but a fantastic year of support. Have a feeling this is part of some twisted mind game that he's good at before a big match...

Having been rejected by Leigh, he would seem to have no future in RL at any level.
