I would do that too - but its too tempting to have a pint if i'm in bar - and thats not a good idea before driving home!

There's always plenty of street parking available around the Gidlow Lane/Springfield Road area...I live there, which is very handy...it's just 5-10 mins walk down over the canal footbridge.

Having said that, there is talk of bringing in resident parking permits in the near future!

No use to me as I take may Dad who is in his late 70's and walking that far for him is a none starter. Since I am driving I can't use the disbabled parking, which I assume would remain free in any event.

you can walk along the canal but its a bit of a trek away. and if you go over the bridge its a bit further. saddle junction is the best option

I think it's six of one and half a dozen of the other waterside. If you go over the canal and go towards Miry lane you can pop out just up the road from Gordon ford, next to Wallgate bridge. That's the way we usually go when we are going for a couple of "shandies" after the match.
