Read somewhere (but can’t find it) they’re talking about going part time in 2022!

Has anyone else heard anything?

No surprise with the cut in central funding I suppose very sad though as they seem to have sorted a permanent ground out too

Given up on London personally!

I'd say it's an enigma but it isn't, wrong shaped ball and furthermore, wrong shaped rugby ball!

Personally, I'm delighted with Cats and hope Toulouse are in SL next season! To me, getting RL right in another country shows we are not getting it totally wrong!

I was always sceptical about Toronto, NY, Wales etc. If Toulouse can pull it off like Cats, I think it's a success for RL!

But they are in French RL heartland, that to me is the difference. This the right way for RL expansion.

In order for rugby to be successful in a given area (Ignoring money), you need the following:

1 - Presence of amateur game (Good standard, participation levels)
2 - Presence of rugby league in schools (To drive interest)
3 - Strong brand, marketing to encourage fans / potential fans to attend
4 - Strong academy within the team

THere aren't any more RL heartlands though. So with this strategy you never enlarge your market and you never get more eyeballs and you never get any more money. You have to fight harder every year to keep your share of a fixed size market.

Not saying expansion has been successful in the past, but I can guarantee you will fail in the future if you don't even try.
