Publicity
Publicity
It could appear to the casual observer that nothing is happening in Rugby League if you look at the BBC website. The last post covering scrums went up 10 days ago. Previous topics to that went up 17 days ago. Whatever the reason it needs to change. Rugby Union is much more up to date.
Admittedly it is the close season but the game needs more promotion.

Re: Publicity
Only a few friendlies going on over Xmas compared to a full competition in Union and with nobody in the New Year Honours list their isn't much to report on at the moment.

Jamie Jones Buchanan got a gong
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Publicity
The BBC is not interested in our sport we need to cast them aside and partner with an organisation that supports our cause. Mind you, if we became a woke sport they would be all over us!
Re: Publicity
Women’s rugby , especially in Union, has taken off. Helped tremendously by the push by the BBC. It shows the power of publicity. It is annoying to think how RL could have grown if they were given the same news time that it deserves.

Re: Publicity
Sorry to disagree, Chariots, but you couldn't be more wrong imo. For a small, regional sport we get good coverage from the BBC: online, national and local radio, and cup matches and internationals.
Always room for debate about how it could be improved, but without them RL would struggle even more than we already are.
The scrum report you mention would be a press release from RLHQ or SL. I wonder if they're all on holiday over Xmas/New Year, and that was the last one they issued? Seems a more likely explanation.
