Kai Pearce Paul
Kai Pearce Paul
Reports coming out of Aussie that Newcastle Knights are in deep discussions with Kai. Hopefully Wigan are too ?
Re: Kai Pearce Paul
I imagine it's a case of when not if.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.

Newcastle Knights reportedly want Super League duo
Whilst other NRL clubs have had mixed results signing Super League players, the Newcastle Knights look to have found two hidden gems.
Both Dominic Young and Bailey Hodgson arrived on Australian shores from Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers respectively having played less than five top flight games between them in Super League.
Since then, both have made a huge impression on their new side, with Young nailing down a permanent wing spot and Hodgson making waves in the reserves.
That has since prompted the Knights to go hunting in Super League once more with the Newcastle Herald and Zerotackle reporting that they are in ‘deep discussions’ with Huddersfield’s Will Pryce and Wigan Warriors’ Kai Pearce-Paul.
Knights CEO Phil Gardner told the Herald that they are willing to use their own players to bring more Super League stars to Australia: “We’d like to regularly have English players coming into the club. They add something to the club and the fans love them,” Gardner said.
If our players can spend a couple of years at the end of their careers playing in England, it’s good for them and also a recruitment tool for us.
“We can ask for their opinions of the players over there, and they can help spread the word that the Knights are a good club to play for. That all helps with the process.”
Both Pryce and Pearce-Paul are currently on the sidelines, with the former serving a ten-match ban and the latter suffering a serious groin injury.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Re: Kai Pearce Paul
More than just the two clubs are in discussions, wouldn't say anything is advanced or deep as of yet with any of them, Wigan are well aware of the Interest. Newcastle contacted the relevant people about Kai when we first started watching Dom Young a few months back.

At least we know their game now, and thats probably why some of the youngsters who havent made the first team are getting a gig in Oz too.josie andrews wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 11:33 am I like their style!!

Unfortunately as a game in the UK at the minute there are challenges in retaining the best young players. i would assume that the attraction of the NRL / lifestyle / salary are far greater than getting around £10-20k over here. Starting with our salary cap, how can you attract / retain players, when we are so restricted in what we can pay as clubs. I dont think chucking big money at young players is the answer, but it cant be hard for the NRL to attract a player if they offer £50k and the lifestyle
Re: Newcastle Knights reportedly want Super League duo
So they get the best young SL talent and we get old players that are knackered? Sounds about right! Hope we don’t lose KPP he’s going to be a top player in my opinion.

Melbourne Storm are also chasing a SL young player in Joe Chan at Catalan, his father Alex played for the French side but is now on the backroom staff.
And this where there is a plethora of young talent in the NRL

Re: Kai Pearce Paul
I think KPP has another year on his contract yet so we have 18 months to agree a new deal.
