Overseas players

Post by adrenalinxx »

Does Dallas still count as overseas, because isn't there a rule that says that if you play in a conutry for so many years then you don't count on the quota.
Also i was told Seu Seu doesn't count on our overseas' quote either so are overseas player for next season are:
- Moran
- DV
- Fletcher
- Logan

Isn't that still 1 to many ??

I think Logan comes under Scotland due to his grandmother's uncle's brother's sister once looking at a map of the world and seeing the bit on top of England.

As for Dallas, he's still an overseas player, the rule about staying for 5 years then dropping off the quota has gone (despite the fact he could legally apply for right-to-remain in the UK now under Home Office rules). I'm guessing Fletcher may also be off-quota for some reason, otherwise, as you say, we've got too many players. We are becoming a bit Dulls-like by having half a team of non-Euro players who somehow meet the conditions to be considered European and therefore non-quota.

I am sure that DV doesn't count on the quota.

Our overseas players next season will be:

Moran, Dallas and Fletcher.

The foreign playes we will have next year are:

1. Logan
2. Feca
3. Fletcher
4. Richards
5. Moran
6. Dallas
7. DV
8. SeuSeu

A club can only have three on the quota and our guota players will be:

Moran, Dallas, Fletcher.

Of the rest:

Logan - "Scottish"
Richards - "Irish"
Feca - South Sea Islander (Kolpak rule lets him in)
DV - South Sea Islander (Kolpak rule lets him in)
SeuSeu - South Sea Islander (Kolpak rule lets him in)

Given DV, SueSeu and Feca represent NZ at International RL I reckon their South Sea Island credentials are not much better then Richards and Logans Celtic ones!

I don't know how many foreign players Bradford have this seaosn but in 2004 it was eight. I think disregarding London Hull set the record also in 2004 with 10 overseas players on their books, several brought in when they had a bad season with injury.

I knew I was one missing! Probably because I didn't notice him much this year....

He is another South Sea Islander Kolpak signing so we have matched Bradford 8 players they had in 2004.

I can't say I am very plaeased about it given ML was not so long ago banging on about producing an virtually al-wigan team with just three overseas players.

I'll edit my original post to correct the error.

Yeah, but there are enough complaints about us not taking advantage of "loopholes" that other clubs are not too 'honest'to exploit...salary caps & short-term signings for example.
We have to face facts, the team would look a lot weaker without those 'foreigners'. The local lads have been tried (albeit we'd no choice) this season, and found wanting, which is why Wild, Aspi, Beswick, Allen and the rest have been allowed to leave.
