So the pack wasn't up to it today!
Out of our best starting pack we were missing Powell, Bateman, Farrell & Smithies.
Any pack would miss those players.

Maybe the comp is a bit more competitive than it's given credit for? And, of course, Wakey had just everything to play for today.
You only have to watch the games to know this isn’t the case, The standard of play from several teams is just poor including Wakefield.

Perhaps the reality is Wigan are also not as good as being second in the league would indicate. Able to beat teams not playing well or when they have injuries but as soon as one puts in some effort like Leeds and Wakefield we come up,short.

As to todays game Wakefield are second bottom for a reason and losing to them is not good enough. Peet’s comments were a bit alarming as well saying they dictated the pace of the game and that while he knows teams have to play to their strengths it’s not the product we want. Well maybe it isn’t but it’s his and the teams job to combat negative tactics not moan about them and they failed to do so.

We are not a two man team of French and Field. Look at the players missing.

Yes any team would miss those players. But we have conceded over 70 points in the last 2 away games. Not great as we are at the back end of the season. It was the manner of the tries we conceded in the first half. Miller walked under the posts from 25 yards out without a finger laid on him. And again from close range he put a forward through a huge gap we ankle tapped him but he still got up and scored under the posts without a Wigan player touching him. Poor defence and commitment.

When we did attack it was just like last year, they shut field and french down and we had no answer. A couple of occasions we had a number of sets on their line and never looked like scoring. The only forward to cause them problems was Mago and it looks like he is going to pick up a ban.

Second place not guaranteed yet we should beat Toulouse but if we play away to Hkr like we have done in the last 2 away games lose to Saints, then it’s all on against Catalan. But at least it’s in our own hands. It will be interesting to see how we respond

As usual with a loss it's always best not to overreact in my opinion. If we were loosing 3-4 in a row then you ask more questions.

We've shown we can beat and/or compete with the best teams. We are currently 2nd.
Even the best teams lose. Compare this season to last. Everyone knows you can't be at your best over a long season, and our players have played more than most and probably been rotated less then most, whilst missing a a couple of starters for long stretches of the season. Put Tommy in that team and maybe we have a slightly more competitive attitude.

When we play saints we will see a far different team and a different attitude.

Performances like this have been few and far between this season but yesterday was one too many. Perhaps it's good to be reminded of the value of the experienced players like Bateman, Tommy and Faz. I'm sure that we'll play better in the next couple of weeks but I think that still shows that we're in a real fight to make the GF and that the squad still needs strengthening for next season.

This is why I'm not to concerned. The players missing our our long term lead by example experienced players and its across the entire pitch not just the odd location.

Powell regardless of his attack has a massive impact on the defence in the middle.

Farrell is a machine never stopping in defence or attack

Bateman leads by example

Tommy is the captain

Thornley is our senior centre

It's not to say the players covering them are not up to scratch but removing that much experience from practically ever area of the field is going to have a impact regardless of the talent (KKP/Smith/Halsall) that have stepped up
