We can’t sign Lino unless we get rid of a non-federation player.
Why do we need to sign either of these player?
We don't but people seem to pretend that Harry Smith hasn't earned the #7 shirt for club & country this year.

This is what I don’t understand. We have a very competent player in Smith & also with Cust.
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

If Wane is looking at half backs and chooses purely on form then young Harry would walk into the world cup team he's way ahead of Williams in terms of form,I felt Lino would have been a good signing but then Cust arrived so he's simply not needed.

Even if he were available, which he isn’t, Lino is not the answer. He has been fairly poor in 22, shown glimpses of quality but nowhere near enough.

This is the issue over the Will he won’t he situation with French.

If French stays we do not need to replace Tommy in the squad.

We have 3 lads that can play half back in Smith, Cust and Field and if French stays we have 3 lads who can play fullback in Field, French and Hanley.

If French goes we need to replace Tommy with a utility back who can cover 1 but unless we have injuries/resting players probably isn’t going to play most weeks.

They also have to be non quota as it stands.

Personally I’d be looking at Bolt from Toulouse for the above role.

Name a better English goal kicker & game manager this season... I'll wait.

Last I saw/heard, Bevan's most recent offer from Wigan was just under the marquee.

Hence why they were still reportedly after Thompson for 2023.
If we sign Thompson our Marquee players will be Thompson & Bateman, you'd then have French as the highest earning non marquee player. But his salary would be considered Marquee money at most other clubs.

I've no doubt we can fit Thompson in under the cap, its just the financial commitment it would take, as our wage bill would be huge and would require someone putting more money in than ever to cover it.

I just cant see that happening to be honest.

Thats why i think obrien would be a good cheap back up…… i like bolt also but he seems weak in defence

Are we not expecting any/many further departures to match new academy graduates?
