Pearce is 34 but that hasn't put off an NRL club showing interest.
Wests Tigers are reportedly plotting a shock move for Catalans Dragons' veteran halfback Mitchell Pearce. According to Fox Sports, the winless NRL club are set to offer the 34-year-old a staggering two-year deal worth around £400,000 per season.
It comes after the Tigers endured a miserable start to the season that has left them as the only winless club in the NRL. Coached by Tim Sheens, the Tigers parted ways with Jackson Hastings in the off-season but their current partnership of Adam Doueihi and Luke Brooks, the latter of whom has been linked with a move to Leeds Rhinos, have struggled to fire.
Now they could turn to Pearce in what would be a shock move given his age. Pearce had an illustrious NRL career, making over 300 appearances and winning a Grand Final in the process. He has spent the last two seasons in Super League with Catalans and made a try-scoring return in their defeat to Leeds Rhinos over the weeked. He scored ten tries in 23 games during his debut season.
For the Dragons, the news may come as a surprise but also a concern. Sam Tomkins is retiring, meaning they could lose two pivotal spine players in one swoop
