Warrington Wolves' Josh McGuire discovers fate after Grade F charge

McGuire was charged for unacceptable language, the second time this year.

Josh McGuire's future at Warrington Wolves is under serious doubt after receiving a twelve-match ban. McGuire has been found guilty of using unacceptable language for a second time this year and has also received a £1,000 fine.

McGuire had been charged following an incident in the club's recent defeat to Leigh Leopards, the team his first charge also came against in pre-season. And after a tribunal that lasted several hours, the Australia international was found guilty and has been slapped with one of the biggest bans ever handed out in Super League history.

He missed the first seven games of the season for the first charge and now, after playing seven times, he has received a ban that will see him miss the vast, vast majority of the season. However, it is now possible that McGuire will never play for the club again after the latest charge, with a second guilty verdict leaving his time at the club at serious risk.

At best, he will now be unavailable to play until the end of August, based on the fact Warrington were to make the Challenge Cup Final. If they weren't, he would be unavailable until September. Whether he remains at the club until that point is now in question.

McGuire arrived as a major signing ahead of the current campaign after an impressive NRL career in which he made 259 appearances. He played 14 time in State of Origin and eight caps for Australia. The RFL has confirmed they will provide more details on the tribunal on Wednesday morning.

That is how it should work for repeat offenders.

St Helens receive disciplinary triumph after leaning Alex Walmsley verdict

Walmsley was handed a Grade B high tackle charge.

St Helens have successfully appealed Alex Walmsley's high tackle charge. The England prop had been cited for a Grade B high tackle following a clash of heads with Huddersfield Giants' Joe Greenwood at Magic Weekend.

Greenwood was brought off and did not return. In the aftermath, Walmsley's actions in the incident were described as 'reckless' in the Match Review Panel's minutes and he was handed a charge.

However, Saints have successfully appealed and while he had not been banned, he will no longer have to pay the £250 fine and the charge will now not be held against his record. Walmsley is now set to be in action in Friday's crunch clash with Wigan Warriors.

Saints head into the contest in good form having won their last four matches, while Wigan have lost three of their last five. Paul Wellens' side will go above the Warriors if they win on Friday.
