Another great initiative

Post by Sutty »

Last night I had the pleasure of being part of another superb initiative that the club provides. The whole night was a "round robin" of all the different aspects of playing and training, with 20 - 30 mins spent at each training station, all under the guidance of all us that coach within the club. The session was for all playing staff, from the Scholars, Academy, Women's Academy, PDRL, Wheelchair, First Team and Women's first team, with a mix from each team in each group.

Matty Peet was saying that we're the only club to do this and it was absolutely brilliant to see how everyone got stuck in, with first teamers helping some of the PDRL players and everyone that was there completely buying into it. Many of the players not involved with the men's or women's first team and academy will very rarely have any interaction with the first team, so it was a brilliant opportunity for them to do something alongside their peers and idols.

A lot gets said on this forum about how people think the club is run and a lot of criticism aimed at certain personnel. If the critics could see what actually happens behind the scenes it may well change their perception of what an innovative and inclusive club we have. Everything from the very top, all the way through the club is about improving each other, buying into the culture and being the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

That's great and you are right, most people won't know about any of this but then what they are interested in is the standard of RL served up on the pitch and winning trophies.

The complaints about how the club is run centre mostly on one aspect anyway. The recruitment and retention of players and this is already looking better than it has done for some time with a transfer fee being paid for Dupree for example.
