Club ticketing to change in 2024

Post by josie andrews »

New ticketing system in place for 2024.

Ticketmaster Sport to become the Club’s official ticketing provider.

Enhanced digital fulfilment of tickets.

Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic are pleased to announce that Ticketmaster Sport will become the official Ticketing Provider for both clubs and will be launched in early 2024.

Ticketmaster is a global leader in live entertainment and sport and will provide a platform that is reliable and trusted by our supporters who will experience a seamless customer journey with an efficient and user-friendly on-line experience and greater control of how their tickets are managed using Ticketmaster’s state of the art platform.

There will be a focus on tickets being fulfilled digitally, either via digital tickets or print at home tickets that will significantly reduce the need to queue on a matchday.

Fans will be offered the opportunity of a free account for each club that will allow straightforward ticketing transactions to take place for both home and away games.

Ben Goodburn, Chairman of Wigan Athletic said: “We’re delighted to partner with Ticketmaster Sport as our new ticketing service provider. The transition to Ticketmaster represents a key strategic priority for the clubs and for our supporters. We hope this positive action demonstrates that we are listening to our supporters and implementing measures to take the club forward. Whilst we know that we have a transitional phase to overcome during the coming weeks, I’m confident that all our fans will benefit from Ticketmaster’s world-class ticketing technology in the long term”.

Kris Radlinski, Chief Executive of Wigan Warriors said: “We are excited to be launching a new ticketing system. The new system is well suited for our wider aspirations for the DW Stadium and Robin Park Arena to support our non-match day objectives to deliver a wider range of community-focused events on the Robin Park campus”.

Further communication will be released during the coming weeks on how fans claim their Ticketmaster account along with a full breakdown of how to purchase match tickets. For further initial information please visit out FAQ’s below.

FAQ’s and the move to Ticketmaster Sport explained

As Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic progress with the implementation of the new Ticketmaster solution, we have summarised a series of key questions regarding what the change means to users and how tickets can be purchased in the future.

Does the move to Ticketmaster have any impact on season tickets that fans have already purchased for the 2024 season?

No. All existing season tickets and tickets purchased will remain valid and enable access to the stadium.

Will my current account details and login remain the same?

Season Ticket holders will be notified when the club’s new ticketing platform is live. You will be sent a link to your registered email address or mobile phone, and you will need to update your personal details and password. In circumstances where Season Ticket holders have set up an account and not provided valid contact details, a new account will need to be set up. Fans who purchase tickets on a match-by-match basis will need to register a new Ticketmaster account.

How will I buy tickets if I don’t currently have an account set up?

To ensure the safety of all fans it will be a mandatory requirement to set up a basic free membership that will enable fans to purchase tickets. You will be expected to provide accurate contact details to enable the free account to be set up.

I have just registered a new account to buy tickets for the World Club Challenge fixture, do I still need to verify or set up a new account when the new site is launched?

Yes. The new Ticketmaster site is a completely separate system to the temporary World Club Challenge site, and you will either need to verify your account or register a new account to purchase tickets. Your old username and password will not work on the new system.

How will I purchase tickets when the system is live?

As part of both Clubs’ commitment to reducing the impact on the environment, we will be making a transition to selling and fulfilling the majority of tickets online. Tickets can be purchased via the Wigan Warriors website and will be fulfilled via the issue of a digital ticket.

I’m a season ticket holder – will I get priority access to purchasing match tickets?

Yes. Your new Ticketmaster account will enable priority access to key fixtures.

When will the new site be live?

We are aiming for the new site to be live in mid-January. Further updates will follow via the club’s website, social media and mailing lists.

When can I buy a Wigan Warriors Season Ticket?

Season tickets, car park passes and Magic WKND tickets will go on sale again when the new Ticketmaster site is launched.

What benefits will fans see from our updated ticketing platform?

Fans will benefit from Ticketmaster’s advanced technology when purchasing tickets. This includes interactive seating maps, view from seat functionality to bring the DW Stadium to life and a seamless user experience when purchasing tickets and selecting seats for the match. Fans will also have greater control over how they manage their tickets online using Ticketmaster’s state-of-the-art platform.

Booking fees are a significant thing for those of us who live 2 hours away and can't get to every game. It's a *iss take when you are downloading the ticket yourself and either printing or using your device at the turnstile.

Got tickets for a gig in US via Ticketmaster, charged $32.60 in charges for 2 tickets that were $40.00 each!! Mobile tickets again. Wish I could charge similar add ons.

Goes back to the same problem of older fans who already struggle/don’t use/or have the internet, how will they purchase tickets?

Seems us old fogies are going to be phased out 🙁

This has Wigan cock up written all over it . Why announce Magic tickets would go on sale yesterday @ 12noon when they knew full well they were not . This must have been in the pipeline for months so an announcement outlining the progress might have been permanent. If you are not on the various scocial media sites that are around you get to know nowt in a timely manner . Again the WW website ain't fit for purpose .

If the club subcontracts ticket booking to a third party then that third party obviously needs paying so either the club hides the cost within the price of the tickets or lets them charge a fee and I am guessing it will be a fee .

What annoys me is the fact they charge a fee for each ticket when all the tickets are under one booking. They don't give you four separate booking reference numbers do they so it's one booking but if you buy four tickets, it is four fees. It's a rip off.

There's something like 3 fees per ticket plus 1 per booking over here. I paid $40ish each for 2 $25 tickets to the NRL opening round in Vegas on Ticketmaster. It's getting up to double the face value ! If you read the info for each fee it just says they maybe split between the ticketing, venue and teams for all of them. I'd say it's illegal and they'll be outlawed in a few years, with the requisite lawsuits. They are fees for nothing in particular. You are being charged for something and they won't tell you what in any detail.

I hope wigans fees arent as excessive but I'd imagine they are going to be some.

I feel the same. I did struggle with the WCC tickets because we weren’t informed at the start that our log in details for the Warriors ticket site wouldn’t work for this game! So I eventually got tickets which was all I was bothered about. Not our season ticket seats but that doesn’t bother me, we’ve got tickets 😊
