Women to open BWSL season at DW Stadium

Betfred Women’s Super League Season Fixtures revealed at 6pm tonight.

EXCLUSIVE: Wigan Women’s team will open the season against Barrow at DW Stadium.

Betts: “To be able to open our fixtures there is a huge boost for the team and we look forward to the start of the Betfred Women’s Super League.”

Wigan Warriors Women will play their opening Betfred Women’s Super League fixture at the DW Stadium for the first time against Barrow Raiders on Friday 19th April (5:30pm K.O.)

The tie will see new Head Coach Denis Betts square up with former Head Coach Amanda Wilkinson, who led the team to a Grand Final win back in 2018.

Wayne Joyce, Chief Operating Officer said “We are delighted to be hosting the first game of the Women’s Betfred Super League season at the DW Stadium. The game is part of the Club’s wider vision to significantly evolve the Women & Girls pathway. We are committed to raising the profile of the Women’s game and increasing attendance at all fixtures and this is the first key step in achieving our aspirations.”

Head Coach, Denis Betts added: “Having had a strong pre-season so far and welcoming some new members to the squad, we are all really enthused and excited to be playing our first home game on the DW Stadium pitch. To be able to open our fixtures there is a huge boost for the team and we look forward to the start of the Betfred Women’s Super League.”

Ticket details for the game will be released in due course.

The full 2024 Betfred Women’s Super fixtures will be revealed at 6pm this evening.
