Important Information: Super League coverage bumped to new channel

Post by josie andrews »

Rugby league is set for another new TV home as Super League’s predominate coverage will move from to a new Sky Sports Channel according to reports.

This is due to the creation of Sky Sports Tennis which is set to take over 407 in February. This will move Sky Sports Action to 408. Sky Sports Action has shown rugby league in the past but 408 is usually the home of Super League.

This is usually on Sky Sports Arena but this is moving to channel 412 for Sky Sports satellite viewers. This means that rugby league’s coverage on Sky Sports channels are set to move to 412. For viewers in the Republic of Ireland the channel will move to 416.

As for those who have Sky Glass will see the channel move only to 410.

During Super Bowl, Sky Sports Action will continue to be shown on 407 until swapping to 408 on the 13th February.

This all important info for rugby league fans ahead of the new season. In Round One, fans will be given their first chance to choose a game from three shown at the same time. Leeds Rhinos are taking on Salford Red Devils on Sky Sports Main Event and Arena which will be on 401 and 410.

This will be a full broadcast whilst the Leigh Leopards and Huddersfield Giants will meet on Sky Sports Action with only the game shown.

Meanwhile, St Helens and London Broncos will be given similar treatment on Sky Sports Mix.

Super League streaming service

Rugby League Commercial (RLC) has unveiled its new global, direct-to-consumer streaming service, SuperLeague+. The platform marks the next phase of IMG’s long-term strategic partnership with RLC to reimagine the sport in the UK. Powered by IMG sister company Endeavor Streaming, it will help drive the sport’s digital transformation, diversify its media strategy and reach new audiences worldwide, although please be aware of local restrictions to this in the United States and Australia.

In the UK and Republic of Ireland, domestic fans will be able to watch 106 Betfred Super League games live on the service, with the remaining 61 games to be made available delayed and on-demand. Live coverage in the UK will kick off on Friday 16 February when reigning World Club Champions St Helens take on newly promoted London Broncos, and 2023 Betfred Challenge Cup winners Leigh Leopards play the Huddersfield Giants (both 8pm UK kick off). Please note, if you are already a Sky Sports subscriber, you can already watch every game live and do not need a seperate SuperLeague+

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan
