RFL Disciplinary

Post by josie andrews »

Wigan Warriors player Harry Smith has been charged with a Grade A ‘dangerous throw’ and issued with a £100 fine following the round 1 Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers.

He will also receive a letter of apology from Tom Grant and Jack Smith.

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Thanks Josie, just seen this on X (Twitter) and was a bit thrown by the apology stuff - made me think it was a fake :)

This was a tongue in cheek reply I’ve seen
Huddersfield Giants player Luke Yates has been charged with a Grade D ‘dangerous throw’ and issued with a three-match penalty notice.

The appeal will be heard as soon as Ian Watson can drive to Red Hall to complain that it was someone else’s fault.

I have it on good authority that there is NO ban for Harry, the yellow on the field and the max possible fine for whichever grading it was given is the punishment.

Earlier post

Castleford Tigers players Liam Watts and Joe Westerman have been jointly changed with a Grade D ‘contact with the head/neck of an opponent’ and issued with a 2.5-match penalty notice each following the round 1 fixture against Wigan Warriors.
Both players were also fined £124.62.
