could you imagine the meltdown on social media if he has been :) :)

its been non-stop cos Smith & Ellis never got banned, so would have been funny as hell, if he'd got a ban for faking :)
He didn't need a ban, perhaps a yellow would be sufficient. But maybe, the green card should have been used? He stayed down and grabbed his neck - that's potentially a serious injury and he should go off for an assessment on player safety grounds.

I really think the main problem in this game was Thompson not being withdrawn for an assessment after his first head knock. This just can't be left up to the clubs - they will never correctly manage the conflicting motivations of player welfare and on pitch success. There has to be independent medics at each game reviewing both the live play and the video feeds looking for head clashes and their aftereffects with the power to pull players off for assessments. Now every game has multiple cameras this is possible. Look at the Leeds lawsuit where a player is saying the protocols weren't applied correctly and it lead to serious implications. This wasn't even an in-game pressurised mistake. These judgements should be taking place independently of the clubs. So many times you see a player clearly dazed and being allowed to continue without a proper HIA assessment.
