Matchday info : World Club Challenge

Post by Blackpool_Pie »

HERE’S EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW AHEAD OF SATURDAY’S BETFRED WORLD CLUB CHALLENGE CLASH AGAINST PENRITH PANTHERS AT THE DW STADIUM.

The Super League champions face off against the NRL champions in front of a sold out crowd at the DW Stadium on Saturday night. The hugely anticipated clash gets underway at 8pm, however, there are plenty of ways to soak up the atmosphere in and around the stadium ahead of kick off!

Ticketing

The Betfred World Club Challenge will be contested in front of a sold out crowd on Saturday night, which means no ticket sales will take place on the day.

All tickets for the fixture have now been issued via email – please check junk. If you have not yet received your ticket please contact the Club by emailing tickets@wiganwarriors.com urgently.

Turnstiles open from 6:15pm, and we advise supporters to arrive in plenty of time to avoid queues upon entry into the stadium.

Tickets can be scanned at the turnstiles using either print@home paper tickets or mobile device scanning. Please note that all seats are reserved for this fixture, which includes the Heatable South Stand.

The DW Stadium Ticket Office will be open from 4pm to 8:15pm on Saturday to assist with any queries.

Our Fan Village will be open from 3pm on Saturday afternoon to soak up all the pre-match atmosphere inside Robin Park Arena!

Supporters will be able to enjoy live pre-match music from 4pm, with England’s Six Nations clash against Scotland [4:45pm K.O.] to be shown live on our Fan Village screens.

Our on-site bars will be in operation from when doors open, and food – including burgers and fish and chips – will be available to purchase out on the running track. Please note that our Fan Village bars only accept card payments.

The Fan Village will be reopen post-match with more live music, with last orders to be called at 10:45pm.

Please note that Whelan’s Sports Bar will not be in use for this fixture, but it will reopen as normal for our Super League clash against Huddersfield Giants.

Club Store

There are plenty of ways to shop on Betfred World Club Challenge day! Our Robin Park Arena Club Store will be open from 10am right up until kick-off, before reopening after the final whistle. Our 2024 Kappa Kits will be available to pick up, as well as Penrith Panthers shirts! Please note, our staff are also fans and will be watching the game too. Please allow our staff to return to the store after the game, reopening time may vary depending on the result.

Over at the Stadium, a pop-up store will be in operation in the South West corner of the stadium. In addition, the Express Store in the South East corner will also be in use and is the perfect place to pick-up any merchandise that has caught your eye!

Please note that official Wigan Warriors products and World Club Challenge merchandise will be available from: Robin Park Arena Club Store, South West corner pop-up store, and the South East corner Express Store. Purchases made from any other vendors will not be official Club products and proceeds will not go towards the Club.

DW Stadium

After soaking up the pre-match atmosphere in our Fan Village, head over to the DW Stadium to continue the excitement ahead of kick off!

Supporters are encouraged to take their seats at 7:15pm as Heather Small will be performing a 30-minute set from her solo career, as well as hits from the M-People with whom she sold over 10 million albums worldwide, with songs including ‘Moving On Up’, ‘One Night In Heaven’, ‘Search for the Hero’ and ‘Proud’.

Following Heather’s performance, The Voice, Russell Watson, will bring out the two competing teams with a stirring rendition of the classic ‘Jerusalem’ accompanied by fire and fireworks. Ahead of kick off, the British and Australian national anthems will be played.

Supporters in the East Stand will be able to try out the DW Stadium’s new Ebars – a three-step Order>Pay>Pour system which serves a pint in just 30s!

Thanks. A Wigan ref. Terrible optics, How I wish (like many fans, I expect) that we had a Aussie ref.

He'll give everythiing to the Aussies to prove he's neutral. An Aussie ref would give everything to the Aussies as well because "why not". So you can't win.

Don’t see the point as by the time fans get out of the stadium after the presentation of the trophy you’re thrown out at 11 before you’ve finished your drink.

Why aren’t last orders as they are in the bars 11pm? Thrown out at 11.30!
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

That was a tough game. Sadly we won't hear the last of claim we should have lost.
These are two reasons not to trust people.
1. We don't know them.
2. We do know them.
