Counting cards: Wigan Warriors & HullFC face nervy disciplinary wait

Post by josie andrews »

Which Super League sides face a nervy disciplinary wait after round five?

Salford Red Devils vs Wigan Warriors
Harry Smith (tackle off the ball) – Wigan Warriors – yellow card

Hull FC vs Leigh Leopards
Franklin Pele (late tackle) – Hull FC – yellow card

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

if that deserves anything more than what he got on Thursday night, then the game really is going to the dogs

for what its worth i think there was Keighran (penalised high shot - but bounced off the ball and over the head), Sneyd (high into Mago), Watkins (bit of lift / tip tackle) and Smith (gentle nudge) the ref got the decisions right on the night, and none of them are worthy of anything further. If the disciplinary gets involved with any of them, then it must purely be cos they want a good feed at the meeting

Heaven help us, what is going on within those who supposedly run our game. Add in the letter ‘I’ and we’re closer to what they’re actually doing. They will ruin it. Smith did no more than slightly step across the runner and got a yellow for it. Punishment over, move on…as the boys did by winning the game without him.

I thought this was a joke. How many times does this happen in a typical game, especially when a defender tries to shield the fullback or winger catching a high ball? Surely a penalty and/or a sin binning should be enough.
