Leigh Leopards to ban supporters over ticket misuse

Leigh Leopards issue warning to fans

Leigh Leopards have threatened to ban members for using their tickets incorrectly.

The club has over 5,500 members, which is the highest number they’ve ever had, and this is in part to the new membership and ticketing scheme that was implemented last year.

On-field performance in 2023 will also, undoubtedly, have played an important role.

In a club statement, however, they have noted a number of ‘significant issues’ from the night of their unbelievable 30-2 victory over Catalans Dragons, and outlined how they would combat them moving forward:

“The Club have noticed a rise in supporters trying to access the match days on incorrect memberships and tickets.

“Following a robust checking process at the Catalans fixture, memberships were confiscated from those trying to access the game using membership categories which would not apply to them. For example, an adult using a child’s membership is not permitted as a transferable membership.

“The Club is disappointed that members would attempt to use invalid transferable membership tickets to gain entry.

Supporters trying to access fixtures using tickets that are not suitable have also been turned away at the turnstiles for an incorrect ticket.

“Leigh Leopards would like to advise all members and supporters that more robust checks will be in place for all fixtures in partnership with Leigh Sports Village.

“We kindly ask for patience and respect towards the stewarding team when they ask to check your ticket or membership.”

Leigh Leopards fans warned over ticket misuse

Fans will be allowed to transfer membership to people in other age categories, but they must pay an upgraded price for that game, so that adults won’t be paying children’s prices, for example.

Failure to follow these rules, the club says, could be damaging:

“Any members that enter the stadium without the correct membership will have their cards confiscated and a warning issued.

“They will be ejected from the stadium and will need to obtain a correct ticket to re-enter.

“The card will only be returned to the actual member once the warning has been accepted and understood in writing.

“If the member is found to breach these conditions a second time, a ban will be imposed, and your membership cancelled without a refund.”

Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Saints had a similar issue a few years back if I remember rightly.
