Best rugby tackle ever' leaves viewers stunned as player carried for 20 metres
A South African schoolboy got the George North treatment from his opponent, getting hoisted and carried back 20 metres before purposely dropping the ball.
The moment occurred in an under 19s match played between Welkom Gymnasium and Hoerskool Goudveld, as part of an annual event FNB Classic Clashes.
The scrum-half of Goudveld received the ball near the opposition 10-metre line, but stepped into the wrong person from Welkom.
The number nine was hit with force and picked up all in the same movement. From there he was carried at full speed, before accepting defeat and purposely dropping the ball forward to prevent any further humiliation. The player was then dropped just after reaching the other 10-metre line.
There are shades of the infamous Israel Folau hit from George North on the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia in 2013.
It has since become one of the most-viewed rugby videos on the internet, with over 250,000 watches on TikTok in less than a day. There's a further 230,000 on the video attached to this article.
Fans have been loving it.
"Forgive him, he got carried away." one joked.
"I would quit" said another.

Wonder if the tackler in this match got a ban from the MRP
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Don't know the rules in rugby union, but in league as soon as the ball-carrier's feet are both off the ground (ie, he's being carried) the tackle is complete, so that couldn't happen,

I know the rule, I was just being facetious with what’s going on with our disciplinary.
