Chamberlain has signed a long-term deal at Hull FC.

Richie Myler has laid down Ed Chamberlain's 'attitude and application' as two key reasons behind Hull FC signing the player. The 28-year-old featured for the Black and Whites on two occasions while on loan earlier this season, with the centre, who Hull were keen on acquiring since that spell, now putting pen to paper on a three-year contract at the club.

Committing his future at Hull until the end of the 2027 season, Chamberlain is now entering his prime years as a player, having previously turned out alongside Myler at international level for Ireland. Knowing the new recruit on both a playing and personal level, Hull's Director of Rugby is confident that his former teammate can produce the goods for his new club, with over 130 senior appearances to his name.

A Challenge Cup winner with Leigh Leopards last season, Chamberlain made his professional debut for Widnes Vikings in 2015 and has also played for Whitehaven, Workington Town, Bradford Bulls, and Salford Red Devils. He joined Leigh in 2022 and was in the Leythers' side that won back promotion to Super League.

Chamberlain is also a confident goal-kicker, and can also double up as a back-rower. He has even played half-back for Leigh in recent weeks and will add plenty of competition and depth to John Cartwright's squad next year

As first reported by Hull Live back in June, he is the fifth new recruit for the 2025 season, joining current Leigh teammates John Asiata and Zak Hardaker at Hull next year. Jordan Abdull and Amir Bourouh have also been officially confirmed, with Oliver Holmes and Cade Cust also plying their trade at the MKM Stadium next season

Speaking on the signing, Myler said: "Having been with us briefly earlier this season, we were really impressed with Ed’s attitude and application—even though he was only with us for two games, he slotted in well and has been someone we’re keen to bring in on a permanent basis ever since.

Centre is a position we’re keen to strengthen and add some further depth to in 2025, and he does that for us. He also brings some important versatility, which is always an added bonus in the modern game. Having played with him myself for Ireland, I know he’ll fit in well in our environment next season.

Leigh have refused Chamberlain permission to speak to Hull, with no player quotes in the press release.

Ollie Holmes becomes the third man in two days to leave Leigh Leopards for Hull FC

Forward Ollie Holmes has become the third player to make the decision to leave Leigh Leopards and sign for Hull FC in 2025 as the Black and Whites raid Derek Beaumont’s side.

Following the announcement yesterday that Zak Hardaker would sign for Hull FC in 2025 on a two-year deal, the Black and Whites followed up by confirming Ed Chamberlain’s arrival today at 5 pm, before Ollie Holmes’ at 6 pm.

It takes Hull FC’s recruitment tally for 2025 to six new players but incredibly four have come from Leigh Leopards.

Hull FC confirmed the signing of Ollie Holmes in a statement released on their club website.

It read: “Hull FC are delighted to announce the signing of Oliver Holmes from Leigh Leopards for the 2025 Betfred Super League season.

“The back-rower has signed a two year deal with the Black & Whites, keeping him at the MKM Stadium until at least the end of the 2026 campaign.

“The 31-year old experienced forward has over 280 senior career appearances under his belt since his senior debut in 2010.”

It’s quite ridiculous for one club to sign four players from one club in the same transfer window with all four men set to swap leopard print for black and white stripes in 2025.

Holmes has signed on a two-year deal meaning that the four men will all play together until the end of the 2026 season, at which point the contracts of Holmes and Hardaker will expire.

It’s a return back over the Penines for Ollie Holmes following his 228-game spell with Castleford Tigers over the course of 12 years, however, he will be playing in Humberside as opposed to West Yorkshire.

Director of Rugby Richie Myler spoke glowingly about the quality and experience that Holmes will bring to the club, proving to be a brilliant sounding board for the younger talents that Hull FC have been nurturing and bringing into the first team of late.

Myler said: “Oliver brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our back-row options in 2025 – he’s been one of the most consistent performers in his position over the last decade, and we’re pleased to add him to our ranks.

“Similarly with the signing of Zak (Hardaker), we’re hoping that he can play a key role in using that experience to help develop some of the young talented forwards we have at our disposal next season.”

7 Hull FC players set to leave ahead of 2025 – as things stand

We’re more than halfway through the 2024 Super League season and it’s fair to say Hull FC have a firm eye on the 2025 campaign. The Black and Whites have struggled through the campaign but with John Cartwright arriving at the MKM Stadium in time for next season, changes are on the way.

The club have already announced a host of new signings that will link up with the East Yorkshire outfit over the winter and it seems more additions will come over the next few months. However, the Black and Whites still have decisions to make when it comes to the futures of a number of key individuals. Here’s a look at those who are entering the final few months of their FC deals.

Danny Houghton

The veteran will be 36 years old by the time next season rolls around and he has already hinted that this season could be his last as a player. However, Houghton is in charge of his own destiny and he’ll make his own decision come the end of the campaign whether to carry on or not, as he did last season.

He’s made 12 outings this time around to surpass 400 Super League appearances and having made 433 tackles over the course of the campaign, he’s still as energetic as ever.

Liam Sutcliffe

Sutcliffe has spent two seasons with Hull, but this one will be his last with the player set to join up with Huddersfield Giants for the 2025 campaign. The 29-year-old has been a consistent performer during his time in East Yorkshire, but it’s fair to say poor results have made his spell at the club a struggle.

Mitieli Vulikijapani

The 30-year-old winger was first picked up by Hull back in April 2021 and while he has never been considered to be a regular starter, the Fijian has provided strength in depth on the flanks. He hasn’t featured this season due to injury, though, and the club will be mulling over the pros and cons of keeping him on.

Charlie Severs

Shoulder injuries have probably got the best of Severs’ career to date with the back-rower seeing his progress severely restricted. He has made three appearances for the Black and Whites and while he did impress during a loan spell at York earlier this season, he hasn’t quite managed to force his way into the Hull fold. He’s always been highly rated at the MKM Stadium, but as his 21st birthday approaches a decision will have to be made, one way or the other.

Cam Scott
Scott is living proof that hard work and perseverance pay off. The 24-year-old made his debut for the Black and Whites in 2018 but it wasn’t until last season when he really became a key member of the squad, with 24 appearances and seven tries coming.

He’s made 73 outings for the club in total, getting over the line on 15 occasions but this season will be his last at the MKM. Scott has taken up a two-year deal with Wakefield and will be representing the resurgent West Yorkshire outfit from next season.

Carlos Tuimavave

Tuimavave has been such a fantastic servant to the club during his nine seasons in black and white, but he will be 33 by the time next season kicks off and the club have a tough decision to make. The centre is one of the leaders within camp but his nationality will leave Hull contemplating whether they can fill their overseas quota in a different way. Tuimavave has made 174 appearances for Hull but injuries have severely restricted his game time this season.

Joe Cator

Like Tuimavave, Cator’s game time has been restricted so far this season through injury. When he’s fit and firing on all cylinders he’s a key man for the Black and Whites, there’s no doubt about it, but the forward has just lacked the fortune needed to avoid injury and build up some real traction for his boyhood club. Given his talent and ties to the club, securing his future makes a certain amount of sense for the Black and Whites, it’s fair to say.
