Super League club Catalans Dragons have terminated the contracts of Jayden Nikorima, Siosiua Taukeiaho and Damel Diakhate following breach of club values

Catalans Dragons have sacked three players, including overseas stars Jayden Nikorima and Siosiua Taukeiaho, for a “highly unacceptable” incident.

The Super League club announced today they have terminated the contracts of the pair as well as France prop Damel Diakhate with immediate effect. In a brief statement, Catalans said: “Following a disciplinary process, the Catalans Dragons have decided to terminate the contracts of three of their Players with immediate effect

The players concerned are Siua Taukeiaho, Jayden Nikorima and Damel Diakhate. All Players were involved in an incident deemed to be highly unacceptable by the Club and contrary to the Club’s value

New Zealander half-back Nikorima, 27, only arrived from Melbourne Storm this season on a two-year deal but departs having played just 13 games, most of which came off the bench.

He was left out of last week’s win at Hull KR by boss Steve McNamara when the club returned to action after the international break. Tonga prop Taukeiaho, 32, arrived from Sydney Roosters last year and played in the Super League Grand Final.

But he was dogged by injury and managed only ten appearances without making a single appearance this season due to a foot issue. Diakhate, 23, started the campaign at Hull FC after joining from French outfit Albi but was released in March without playing a senior game.

He took up a one-year deal with Catalans but is now out of the door just four months later. Dragons sit sixth in Super League ahead of hosting Salford tomorrow.
