The players aren’t going soft but the game is. The fact Ellis copped a ban for basically being unable to vanish into thin air surely points to that.

Sure. There's bad disciplinary decisions, but that doesn't mean the game is going soft. Players put their bodies on the line every week for our entertainment.

Its definately going softer according to the nrl commentators.They are not happy with the poor calls for good hits

As I stated the players aren’t going soft the game is (“the game” being officials , rules, disciplinary panel etc.) Yes the players do put their bodies on the line for our entertainment but they don’t do it for free.
