Perhaps the club think we don't need any new players and that we are well covered in all positions?

Isa and Cooper going as well as Hampshire, surely we should be replacing like for like or at least one huge Māori prop/second row and another utility back

We have three second rows next year with Faz, Nsemba & Walters.

Sam Eseh is out on loan but with a good pre season he could be a player the club are looking at for next year to join the squad props. He looked very handy when he played for Wakey v us and if we can get the best out of him then all to the good.

Hampshire, Cooper, Isa (and probably Chan?) going so even if we have to upgrade some contracts there should be some cap available. It would be very complacent to think that we don't need any more signings despite the progress of several younger players. Taking those experienced players out of the squad has to weaken it overall even if you just accept that it's 3-4 fewer bodies. Chan just doesn't look good enough so far and Eseh does have potential but he's played poorly more often than not. Do we have 3-4 reserve players that will be ready to step up next season? Farrimond, Nsemba and Eckersley were all considered part of the squad at the start of the season, they are not new signings even if they've played more than expected. I'd be surprised and disappointed if we didn't sign one or two. After all, despite great success, we've not exactly walked it this season and other clubs will improve.

Don’t forget that most players will be due an inflationary pay rise and with the salary cap remaining the same, and with upgrades that means less money to spend on new players.

Why will they?

Wouldn’t expect this to be built into their contracts but rather based on perceived value and performance.

For example, Farrell is most likely on the same salary each year, whereas someone like Walters may get 20% increase year on year.

Exactly, inflation or some form of it will be built into contracts.
