Nathan Cleary.

Got a hot rumour from a source inside the club, or just something you heard down the pub? Then what are you waiting for, post it on The Rumour Mill.

Nathan Cleary.

Post by Dan2266 »

Posting this then not commenting further. (so I'm not "back" as such)

I'm sure everyone has seen the rumours of Cleary looking to come to the SL to be closer to his partner.

When he was over for the WCC it was mentioned about spending a year over here potentially on loan.
(not by Cleary himself, but with an associate of the Panthers)

It goes without saying Wigan would love him over here, as would every SL Club.

In the past few weeks conversations have taken place between Wigan & said associate of the panthers, based on how it could work and potential costs to Wigan and the cap.

(I know this because of my previous employment, we dealt with the legal side of contracts between clubs, RFL & SL) - they have been involved subsequent loose conversations from an advisory point of view.

I assume its been discussed recently due to the retention and impact our contract renewals will of had on the cap & the Wigan knowing more about the situation they will be in heading into 2025.

Nothing is concrete as of yet and I doubt it even gets to that point, but there is some truth to the rumours.

Hope you are all keeping well.

Looking forward to hopefully a great end to the season!!

Nice to see you post Dan, & miss you posting regular.

I remember it being discussed after the WCC & that he was looking to come over here at least for a season to be with his aforesaid girlfriend, but then it fizzled out up until the latest news from Oz

So we will just have to wait & see how it goes.
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

It may depend on the NRL GF this year, he has done everything in Aus which would be a record if they win again in the bounce, so why not have a change of scenery

Salary cap wise, how could he fit in?

Only way it happens is if Smith goes the other way for the year. This is pure fantasy simply due to why the hell would a million dollar world star come here just to be with his girlfriend who earns close to 50k per year.

Makes no sense. He is in his prime now could be about to become an immortal and is Penrith's poster boy. Shoe in for origin and test teams and he is going to take a pay cut miss all that.

I can see him coming in 4 years but not now.

I agree, it would just be too disruptive long term
