Totally agree with Walters on the bench, he offers more options than going with Byrne.EagleEyePie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 7:24 pm Farrell for sure. Leigh didn't test us much at all really in the semi but you can be certain Rovers will. Our right edge in defence is exactly where Mikey Lewis will be attacking. It was his defence in the away game against Catalans that saw Walters lose his place and I don't think the Leigh game is enough to be 100% certain he won't get caught out like he did in that game.
I do think Walters should be on the bench though. I mentioned in another thread that I think it's been a bit of a waste to not use Walters at prop and give him an opportunity to be involved in most games. Having genuine cover in the back row is also really useful if we lose players during the game. The coaching staff no doubt have their reasons for it. Maybe the expectations of what players do is so in-depth that they don't like the idea of someone having to adapt to two roles at once but I wouldn't have thought it's asking too much.
I'd agree with that and Walters could cover centre at a pinch, at least we know he is capable in a big game if Faz isn't fit in time.Ipinwigan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 7:28 pmTotally agree with Walters on the bench, he offers more options than going with Byrne.EagleEyePie wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 7:24 pm Farrell for sure. Havard was coming back from a serious injury, Farrell is just ill… you can’t compare the two.Firestarter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 8:04 pm If faz isnt 100% then play walters. If he is then maybe start him but play walters on the bench.Remember havard last time?
I beg to differ. He has actually played a bit at prop for us.It isnt changing tactics as hes also played with backs on the bench.Walters gives us more options off the bench and deserves it after the seminathan_rugby wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 8:59 pmHavard was coming back from a serious injury, Farrell is just ill… you can’t compare the two.Firestarter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 8:04 pm If faz isnt 100% then play walters. If he is then maybe start him but play walters on the bench.Remember havard last time?
Byrne will get the nod ahead of Walters. Why would Pete all of a sudden switch his tactics for a final? He isn’t going to move Walters to prop as he hasn’t played there for us, nor is he going to run with an extra second row.
