Wigan Warriors may be about to settle Super League's greatest team debate and here's why

The Warriors are one win away from an accomplishment never seen before.
Wigan Warriors' trophy hoarding has been nothing short of remarkable in the last year. Matt Peet's all-conquering side has won the last five pieces of silverware up for grabs, a run that started with the League Leaders' Shield last year and has seen them win every single trophy there is to win.
Earlier this year, the Warriors joined an exclusive club when they clinched the Challenge Cup as it meant they were the holders of all four trophies; the League Leaders', the Grand Final, the World Club Challenge and the Challenge Cup.
That in itself is a remarkable achievement that puts them in the conversation as being one of the great teams. Only two other teams had previously achieved that in the Super League era. Brian Noble's Bradford Bulls side were the first to achieve the feat and were followed by Daniel Anderson's treble winners at St Helens a few years later.
However, this weekend's Grand Final gives the Warriors a chance to surpass what the Bulls were able to done, and match what the great Saints side of the mid noughties achieved.
Claiming six consecutive trophies has only been done once before. The Saints side that won the treble in 2006 went on to win six on the bounce. After winning all three domestic trophies they then won the World Club Challenge in 2007 before retaining the Challenge Cup and League Leaders' Shield.
When Wigan retained the Shield last month they went on to win five on the bounce, but they can now match Saints' record. The fact they would be matching what one of the great Saints sides was able to achieve will deliver great satisfaction and it would certainly give this Wigan side a piece of evidence when debates start about the country's great rugby league teams of the past.
