Wigan Warriors have enjoyed some mighty attendances at the Brick Community Stadium across the modern era.

Here’s a list of the top 10 biggest gates at home, including two World Club Challenge battles and plenty of Good Friday derbies…

10. Wigan 16-23 Warrington Wolves - 22,701 in 2010
Coming in 10th on this list is a defeat to rivals Warrington in July 2010, with Pat Richards, Mark Riddell and Chris Tuson scoring in the defeat. Ryan Atkins, Chris Hicks, Richard Myler and Ben Westwood scoring for the visitors.

9. Wigan 29-18 St Helens - 23,390 in 2017
Liam Marshall made just his seventh senior appearance in 2017's Good Friday derby, scoring twice alongside a brace from Joe Burgess in the victory as well. Liam Farrell also crossed the whitewash, with Morgan Escare on kicking duties that day. Kyle Amor was sent off for Saints.

8. Wigan 28-16 St Helens - 23,861 in 2013
A season to remember including the Good Friday victory with tries from Pat Richards (2), Josh Charnley, Sam Tomkins and Dom Crosby.

7. Wigan 14-32 St Helens - 24,028 in 2007
A huge crowd attended the home Good Friday derby in 2007, with Brian Noble in charge of the Warriors

6. Wigan 12-4 St Helens - 24,054 in 2015
A brutal, low-scoring classic Good Friday derby this season. After only 52 seconds of play, Dom Manfredi opened the scoring to give Wigan an early 6-0 lead, with Joe Burgess crossing on 71 minutes

5. Wigan 28-24 St Helens - 24,057 in 2011
A dramatic finish to this season's derby with Liam Farrell scoring a late winner in front of a crowd of 24,057

4. Wigan 16-12 Penrith Panthers - 24,091 in 2024
A packed Brick Community Stadium saw Matt Peet's Warriors claim a 16-12 victory over NRL kings Penrith Panthers for the club's fifth title in the competition, equalling the record alongside Sydney Roosters

3. Wigan 15-21 St George Illawarra Dragons - 24,268 in 2011
St George claimed the World Club Challenge on this day back in 2011, with tries from Brett Morris (2), Matt Cooper and Cameron King. George Carmont scored a brace for the hosts

2. Wigan 14-6 St Helens - 24,275 in 2023
The Good Friday derby in 2023 drew the highest home attendancd for 18 years. It was the best attended home match since Good Friday of 2005 - number one on the list

1. Wigan 22-20 St Helens - 25,004 in 2005
A record Super League crowd at the time, with a hard-fought Wigan win over their rivals with tries from Brett Dallas, Kris Radlinski and Danny Tickle, who also kicked five goals. It is only beaten by 2019's Camp Nou fixture against Catalans Dragons, attracting a crowd of 31,555 in May that year in Barcelona

I once read that the Wigan team of the 40s just after the war averaged 25,000 per game , the best supported team pro rata of the town’s population of any sport in the country with only 9 first football clubs bettering that average ?

Different era's and times, there is just so much more access to other sports via TV and online these days and so many other activities to do, whereas back then there was less access to transport or disposable income, so the main activity was what was going on, on your doorstep, we just need to keep trying to build on those that are on the doorstep of the club.
