WIGAN WARRIORS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ARE DELIGHTED TO HAVE ENGAGED WITH 11,732 INDIVIDUALS ACROSS WIGAN AND LANCASHIRE.
Ahead of our Betfred Super League opener against Leigh Leopards on Thursday night, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation coaches have been promoting the highly anticipated clash whilst delivering activities involving schools and community clubs.
The Warriors have visited 78 schools across Wigan and Lancashire since Monday 3 February to deliver health and wellbeing assemblies as part of children’s mental health week. Alongside the positive difference being made in schools, our Community Foundation have hosted rugby league festivals and sessions for local clubs.
Staff from our Community Foundation attended the Progress With Unity summit at The Edge, Wigan, last week alongside Wigan Council and other sporting Clubs. Promoted to showcase opportunity and inclusion through sport, the event was attended by more than 400 young children from schools in the borough.
Reflecting on the week of activities, Wigan Warriors Head of Community, Danny Fullerton said: “We are pleased with how many meaningful conversations our Community Foundation team have held in helping to improve young people’s mental health.
“Engaging with 11,732 people in week one has been incredible, and it’s amazing to see the positive impact we can make by working collectively with schools and community clubs.
