Tactics and Style of Play

Hi all.
I was wondering if I could get some thoughts on something related to Wigan's style of play.
How does Wigan's current style compare to the reserve side Peet coached?
I seem to remember people saying that the reserves were expensive and exciting to watch. I get it could be a case of perspective but I'd consider the current senior team to be more on the systematic and process oriented side.
The other question is around tactics on the last tackle. Has a Peet coaches team always favoured the high kick into the corner?
I'm hoping someone can educate me on the above as I've never really had a chance to see the reserves.

Hi Josie! Do you mean that they were holding back a bit last night?
I know you've seen different incarnations of the reserves and first team so you're one of the best people to ask. In your opinion, do you think Peet's coaching style is the same now as it was when he was working with other age groups?

I felt last night was too much about Vegas instead of concentrating on it being a The Battle of The Borough & the opening night of SL & not about a game two weeks away! IMO of course!
Not so much about holding back but everything has been about Vegas, I felt it was a bit over the top!
But you have to give credit to Leigh.
That had nothing to do with the coaching style. I think Matt Peet has matured as a coach. It’s bound to be different dealing with "men" as it is with younger players. Hope that answers your question?

The Vegas game could be a problem next week too. They're all desperate to get to Vegas and, a bit like the match before a cup final, the players will be keen to avoid injury or suspension. I did think they all put in a lot of effort last night and lets not forget how cold it was. I'm sure the conditions played a part in the low risk game plan. I sometimes have to remind myself that they're not supermen. I shook hands with a couple of the lads after the match and they were freezing, not ideal for the moves they would have been running through in Portugal.

Someone on Facebook was going on about a Wigan fan who had odds of 120–1 on a bet for Wigan to lose the first four games.
I thought that was a bit mad but I can almost see the logic. The 50/50 games are the one in Vegas and the one we just lost v Leigh. One down, three to go.
The game before Vegas is an assumed loss if the attitude is they are all on the plane and the one after is an assumed loss if they are jet lagged and go on the piss in Vegas.
Probably worth a tenner at 120-1 if you bet against your own team which I never do on principle.
