Not listened to the talk show but any mention of winter rugby just throws up an absolute horror show.

Winter rugby being proposed by the Aussies is probably because they don't understand the real difference between an Aussie winter and a British one.

For those of us who watched decades of winter rugby I don't want to return to that under any circumstances. Summer rugby has improved the standard of play out of all measure.
Please no going back to lousy weather and games called off. Players playing in a mud bath having to change their shirts at half time so you could see the number on the back to have some idea who was who.

To me there's two chances of winter rugby, fat chance and no chance.

It shows that the pitch is only maintained by 2 people. Top sports pitches are expensive and need round the clock looking after, never mind trying to look after Robin Park, Orrell, Christopher Park etc. Needs a much bigger team. It's the public face of both teams....

i have a feeling that with Danson in charge, that there may be some form of hybrid pitch laid at some point similar to what they have put in at Saints to accommodate Liverpool ladies football team.

Given we have that spell off the pitch once the Latics season has finished, and usually do work on the pitch for it to just happen year on year, surely the better long term investment would be a pitch that doesnt need a couple of months every year to be relaid or worked on

having said that, it probably wouldnt help if we did move to winter rugby, unless there is a lot of artificial fibre in it

just had a quick read - 2% synthetic which i wasnt aware of. I would have thought that the %age would be higher to be honest, especially in an area like our stadium is built on a marsh
