The groundsman is leaving! He’s saying it’s too much to try & keep the stadium pitch first class when both teams are playing on it & the Warriors are training on it.
Penny pinching? It will cost a lot more in the long term.josie andrews wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:10 amThe groundsman is leaving! He’s saying it’s too much to try & keep the stadium pitch first class when both teams are playing on it & the Warriors are training on it.
Plus, Robin Park, Orrell & wherever the Latics train.
There is only two of them as no one will stay as the money is crap & they have to work game days without proper pay. Take the hours in lieu, but they don’t have time to take time off with only being two ground staff!!
Didn't Wigan recently have a job advert looking for grounds people on their website?Charriots Offiah wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:57 amPenny pinching? i have a feeling that with Danson in charge, that there may be some form of hybrid pitch laid at some point similar to what they have put in at Saints to accommodate Liverpool ladies football team.josie andrews wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:10 amThe groundsman is leaving! Given we have that spell off the pitch once the Latics season has finished, and usually do work on the pitch for it to just happen year on year, surely the better long term investment would be a pitch that doesnt need a couple of months every year to be relaid or worked on
having said that, it probably wouldnt help if we did move to winter rugby, unless there is a lot of artificial fibre in it
just had a quick read - 2% synthetic which i wasnt aware of. I would have thought that the %age would be higher to be honest, especially in an area like our stadium is built on a marshjosie andrews wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 10:23 amI thought we already had a hybrid pitch?the pieman wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 9:53 ami have a feeling that with Danson in charge, that there may be some form of hybrid pitch laid at some point similar to what they have put in at Saints to accommodate Liverpool ladies football team.josie andrews wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 11:10 am
