The Robins are set to say farewell to one of their regular players.
Niall Evalds is set to make an immediate exit from Hull KR. All Out Rugby League can reveal the fullback is set to join Huddersfield Giants, who had already held discussions with the Lance Todd Trophy recipient regarding a move to the club next year.
It is a move that has come around quickly, but one that ultimately works out for all parties. Huddersfield have been dealing with all sorts of injury issues this season and are now facing another crisis, with halfback Adam Clune and hooker Zac Woolford both set to miss several months of action. That has left them with an issue in their spine and seen them pursue a move for Evalds, a 2026 target, immediately.
After Rovers' move for Arthur Mourgue, who has agreed to join the club next season, the club had held open discussions with Evalds regarding his future and it was mutually agreed that the 31-year-old would pursue other options for next season with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign. He is understood to be keen for a move closer to his home in West Yorkshire.
Rovers have not stood in the way of Evalds making that move early with the deal expected to be concluded in the coming days. Head coach Willie Peters said in his press conference that he would be able to provide news on the fullback's future in the coming days.
Evalds joined the club last year and has made 32 appearances, scoring eleven tries.

Niall Evalds set for immediate Hull KR exit as Robins chase replacement
Anyone can support a team when it is winning, that takes no courage.
But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you,
that takes a lot of courage. #18thMan

Thought Jack Broadbent has filled in nicely whilst he’s been out so that’s probably had a bearing as well.

Hull KR launch transfer move to secure 2026 signing on immediate deal
The Robins are in talks with Catalans Dragons to secure the deal.
Hull KR are believed to be closing in on an immediate deal for their 2026 recruit, Arthur Mourgue. The Robins are understood to have held discussions with Catalans Dragons today and are hoping to secure a deal that would see him arrive with immediate effect.
Niall Evalds, the club's current number one, is heading to Huddersfield Giants and in order to replace him in the squad, the Robins are now looking to get Mourgue through the doors now.
There has been dialogue between the two clubs today and there is a feeling that a deal can be struck, with Catalans open to doing business. It's worth noting that the French international, who has made 103 appearances for the Dragons, was not part of their matchday squad for the Challenge Cup victory over Featherstone Rovers.
Mourgue is already a Robin for 2026. The club made him their first transfer target ahead of next season and got a deal done before the current campaign had even begun. As a consequence, Rovers had already held conversations with Evalds and it was agreed he would pursue a deal elsewhere next year.
That will be with Huddersfield but with the Giants really struggling on the injury front, particularly within their spine, they have pursued the opportunity to sign Evalds early and Rovers decided not to stand in his way, particularly with Catalans open to doing business themselves.
And so it appears increasingly likely that Rovers will be shuffling their fullback early into the year, another mid-season switch that has become the norm at Sewell Group Craven Park over recent years.

Willie Peters identifies the quality Arthur Mourgue will bring Hull KR with transfer complete
Mourgue has completed an immediate transfer to Hull KR.
Hull KR have got their man after securing an early deal for Arthur Mourgue. The fullback, who had already signed for the club in 2026, will arrive at Sewell Group Craven Park earlier than anticipated after Rovers paid a few to secure the 25-year-old for the remainder of the season and beyond.
Mourgue has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Rovers which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season in a move which will see Niall Evalds head to Huddersfield Giants immediately, though this hasn't been confirmed by the club.
Rovers have paid a fee to secure Mourgue early from Catalans, with the French international now set to compete for a place in the team alongside in-form Jack Broadbent.
Head coach Willie Peters had identified Mourgue as his first target for 2026 and Rovers moved early to secure him. Now, he will link up with the club as Evalds heads to the Giants.
“We’re delighted for Arthur to join Hull KR," Peters said. His (Arthur’s) strength is his running game. We’re looking to further develop that. Arthur's other strength is his pace and he can play multiple positions. Arthur is an 80% plus goal kicker which will certainly help us in the short-term.
“This is a major move for Arthur and his partner to come from their home country to England. However, it shows the commitment they are both making to want to be a part of the Hull KR family.”
Mourgue will be in contention to make his debut when Rovers play Leigh Leopards on Sunday.

I think they're weaker after this. Less solid at FB if that's where Moutge is playing anyway.

I agree. I rate Evalds higher than Mourgue. I do think there's a lot of unfulfilled potential with Mourgue. He seemed like a future star when he first came onto the scene but seems to have stagnated at Catalans. Maybe this will be a shrewd move and Rovers can get him to fulfil his potential.
For me Evalds is one of the most underrated players in Super League. A real solid, consistent and calming presence at fullback and a good ball player to balance a very direct halfback pairing of May and Lewis.
