WIGAN WARRIORS ARE DELIGHTED TO LAUNCH A QUIET ZONE AHEAD OF SUNDAY’S BETFRED SUPER LEAGUE CLASH AGAINST SALFORD RED DEVILS.
In partnership with The Zone, an innovative service for individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex support needs, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation will host a calming and safe space for fans with sensory differences to experience pre-match.
Accessed through the main entrance at Robin Park Arena Leisure Centre – located across from The Brick Community Stadium and Robin Park Arena – the facility is designed and equipped with various sensory tools and resources to provide a relaxed and stimulating environment.
Aiming to enhance the pre-match experience whilst reducing the sensory overload, our Quiet Zone will offer a controlled and friendly area for families, who have sensory sensitive members, to support their loved ones whilst being delivered a pre-match experience.
The wheelchair accessible space, which is fitted with low level lighting, specialist equipment, a breakout immersive room, sensory toys, and indoor seating areas, will be managed by our Community Foundation team.
Speaking on the launch, Wigan Warriors Disability Inclusion Officer, Jack Corless said: “We’re delighted to be expanding our matchday offering alongside The Zone to create a safe and quiet space for all ages with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex support needs.
“The Zone is an excellent facility that will help bring our community closer, and we hope that having this area will enhance the matchday experience for individuals who attend.”
The Zone Establishment Manager, Daniel Dowd added: “We’re really proud this space will now be available to Wigan Warriors supporters of all ages – strengthening links to the community.
“The Zone allows individuals to feel the benefits of a modern, vibrant and accessible space to relax before matches. Our immersive room allows people to interact with different digital surfaces for interactive learning, and our comfortable and adaptive furniture adds to the relaxed environment The Zone creates for all attendees.”
Supporters using our Quiet Zone will be able to meet Mighty Max, with matchday specific activities to be included. Refreshments will be available, and two large bathrooms will be in use.
Whilst our Quiet Zone is free of charge to access, bookings will be taken due to limited places. The space will open at 1pm before closing at 2:15pm, allowing plenty of time to access the stadium.
