Cornwall RLFC gone bust
2002 and EW is hooked
Re: Cornwall RLFC gone bust
Totally crazy idea from the Toronto guy. It's almost easier to get to Toronto and the market is miniscule down there.

Typical reporting for RL from the BBC
i know as a fan i have been critical of the RFL for choosing Headingley for the 3rd test, but they have sold 60k tickets pretty fast, but not a mention of that on the RL pages on BBC. So, surely a better headline / reporting would be record ticket sales for the Ashes test series and some details behind that
instead they report / focus on a negative, which in reality isnt a shock is it, as they are as far away from the RL heartlands as possible with no RL heritage that i am aware of and quite a bit down the RL pyramid

So a club goes bust and but BBC shouldn't report that because it was obvious it would happen?the pieman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:19 pm Typical reporting for RL from the BBC

BTW the BBC reported ever single little tiny positive thing that ever happened to Cornwall for the last 2 years. But that was OK I suppose.

Re: Cornwall RLFC gone bust
didnt say it shouldnt be reported but its very selective reporting, with a focus on being negative towards RLMike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 4:13 pmSo a club goes bust and but BBC shouldn't report that because it was obvious it would happen?the pieman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:19 pm Typical reporting for RL from the BBC

on a day where we sell over 60k tickets for the upcoming Ashes, there isnt one mention of it, but a League 1 (3rd tier) club go bust and its the main headline and thats my issue
I have also searched quickly for other articles, yes there has been some reporting but i wouldnt say it was anything particularly positive /negative, just the odd match report and a couple of interviews with the coach
Re: Cornwall RLFC gone bust
Agree re the lack of positive press re tickets. Ashes looks like 2 sell outs, we’ve sold out vs Saints, hull derby almost a sell out. The game is still v popular , so let’s showcase that.
Re: Cornwall RLFC gone bust
They wouldn't shut up about bleedin Corwall. First signing, first coach appointment, first time losing by less than 50, first win (eventually)... Someone in the org had a soft spot for what was clearly a really dumb idea by the Toronto guy just looking to take the piss out of the RFL at that point IMO. I have no problem what-so-ever about the BBC reporting a club going under, especially one they took so much interest in.the pieman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 4:35 pmdidnt say it shouldnt be reported but its very selective reporting, with a focus on being negative towards RLMike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 4:13 pmSo a club goes bust and but BBC shouldn't report that because it was obvious it would happen?the pieman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:19 pm Typical reporting for RL from the BBC

The sell outs will make the news when the RFL pushes that story IMO, which I'd say will be when the Wembley tickets start getting sparse, or Everton is actually sold out.

It was never going to work shame though Wigan didn’t draw them in the cup that’s one away day I would have moved heaven and earth to get to
But yes a bloody stupid idea
