Sam Eseh

Not too impressed with Sam today. Do we think he's still a good bet for next season? The loss of Byrne and Hill will create gaps that I don't think Eseh and Chan can fill. You certainly wouldn't swap them at the moment. If we lose all four next season our squad would be short of props even though Walters can play prop or backrow. At present Makin has promise but isn't as good as Byrne or Hill and, even if he improves, he can't replace them both. The jury is still out on Hirst but he doesn't seem to be pushing hard for a first team start. I hope we take the chance to make a couple of signings (two props or one prop and one backrow?) that can come straight in and strengthen the squad rather than take chances on 'project' players.

Bin them off and bring in 2 experienced props, Josh Papali'i & Robbie Mulhern for instance

Fair assessment, he did a lot of tackling and a couple of decent carries but he's far from where he needs to be.

Took Papali’i in an instance. Would be a wrecking ball over here
