The problem is that in the three key areas in a rugby team is the axis of three.
SCRUM HALF, STAND OFF, LOOSE FORWARD and what we have are not good enough.
The signings made pre season logan and richards are not showing full potential
We dont play for the full 80mins,in some areas we are to light and run out of steam.

Stand off and scrum half, I agree! But Lockers at loose forward? Well I'm happy with that.
We are poor at the moment but he is by no means the worst of the bunch.
But SO and SH, definitely need some quality.

did anybody watch briers tonight, never stopped geeing the players up, pointing, directing etc. when did we last see a general in a Wigan shirt?
We need a general desperately. I`m afraid at present we have a bunch of headless chickens who want to go home at half time.

Obviously your highly mistaken on the loose forward being a problem, you must of meant centre and david vaealiki. Lockers was one of 3 players playing with pride and self belief tonight, last time i looked there was 17 players in a team. Scrum Half i agree, stand off i dont reckon has ever been the problem. Moran is too much of an individual player, with a decent scrum half or even mickey higham Orr would do well. Immense in defence. But i see no problem with Lockers at all, with fletcher back we've got an experienced player alongside him. HE's done nothing wrong.

Neither of them has a decent long pass. Orr doesn't even try, and when Moran does they get intercepted.
The only times the ball got anywhere near our centres/wingers was from kicks, which were all too eassily snapped up by the defence.

No my friend.
I've posted on this a while back now.
Your problem isn't Moran and Orr. Its your pack.
No halfback in the world could play behind a pack that doesn't set out a platform giving room for your backs to run.

Can't agree with the theory about the pack, it's improved since last season.
The problem is at half back.
Moran, Orr, Brown, Higham, in fact whoever Millward attempts to play there just isn't up to doing the job. It's no wonder our threequarter line is anonymous they don't see any of the ball until the opposition defence is trampling on top of them.
Frankly, the speed and accuracy of our ball distribution is pathetic. If Moran tries any form of half back play it ends up with zero end product or the ball in our opponents hands.
We've put up with the mess at scrum half for more than a season now, will someone do something about it. We need a scrum half who can actually pass to his own team mate and is actually able to be creative !!
Higham for me is a liability, people said that Terry Newton gave away penalties ... well this guy seems to give away a similar amount, especially due to lying on in the tackle.
Finally, the defence !!! Absolutely shocking, we just seem to freeze all the time and wait for the opponents to make their move and more often than not it's too late to recover.
Can anyone tell me about the improvements to our defence since Farrar came in as "Defence" coach because I certainly don't see any. In 2003 we had the best defence in Super League ... now show me the improvement !!
I'm not going to put all the blame with Millward, the players have to take the responsibility for the gameplan not being used effectively on the field of play.
One bright point from last nights debacle, seeing Bryan Fletcher finally in a Wigan shirt and scoring a try. Once he's fully fit maybe this is the guy to lead us out of our rotten form.
We have a good coach, the squad has been improved (in most positions) ... therefore why the lack of pride and passion on the field.
They should be proud to wear the famous Cherry & White hoops, it's about time some of our underperforming players had that honour taken away from them and their shirts given to lads from the Academy team who if nothing would give 100%.

Surely thats what a good coach is, a man who gets every last bit of ability and effort out of the players he's got.
One point being overlooked by everybody who clings to the idea that Millward is a good coach (I regret deeply having to say this) is how much Stains have improved since Millward was fired and replaced there by Daniel Anderson.
