18-man squad

Ashton, Brown, Fletcher,Godwin, Goulding, Hargreaves, Higham, James, Jonkers,McAvoy, Moran, O'Loughlin, Orr, Paleaaesina, Richards, Seuseu,Tickle, Wilkes

Calderwood, Gleeson and Colbon out from the original 20. That looks a bit scary - unless McAvoy can play on the wing, which I don't remember seeing, it looks like Ashton going on the wing, with Moran at fullback and one of the second rows to drop out of the 18.

Is a kind of strange selection. He might go with Godwin or Higham scrum half or orr scrum half and the dreaded KB at stand off.

It's fair to assume Calderwood hasn't fully recovered from his injury, so we'd only have one real winger anyway, which means some tinkering is unavoidable. I'd be reluctant to bring in yet another youngster like Colbon at this stage for the other wing.

Poor choice in my opinion i would have ashton fullback colbon on wing ( if you remember he went length off the field last time we played hull ) then mcavoy and goulding with richards on the wing orr and moran then paleaasina and hargreaves to start with jordan james and tickle in second row with o louglin loose forward oh and higham at hooker then on the bench godwin seuseu wilkes and either brown or tim bonkers
What no Fletcher!! :o

Calderwood is a big loss, hopefully when Hull confirm their 18man squad they will be missing some of their better players

I hope so as well. If the players that Hull say are injured are actually injured, then in terms of quality of players not playing, then Wigan and Hull are not very well matched I don't think.

I have said above, us and Hull are not very wellmatched, because when I look at the players we have got out, the likes of Logan, Fletcher, Hock, Calderwood and Dallas, I then realise that we are missing strength in Logan, Fletcher and Hock, and speed in Calderwood and Dallas.

So basically, us and Hull are less than evenly matched.

To be honest I would rather have the likes of Calderwood fit for the Cas game.
Hull was going to be a tough ask regardless of the squad.
Cas is payback time for all the grief we got from those people what talk funny.
Thar'll be goin reet down after teneet thar knows.

Will be happy with a win at Hull, but content with a good display. Season starts next week.
