My son came home in tears the other day because of the amount of abuse he got for wearing his cherry and white top during a sports day. He said all the kids are latics fans, none of em are interested in rugby in his class. They gave him loads, goading him about relegation and mickey mouse sport etc.

I'm thinking of going to see the headmaster but don't want to make things worse.Hope they get relegated next season. I hate what whelan has done to our club.

Its been mentioned on here before, it is truly diabolical. They are kids and due to soccer being the nations #1 sport and the Latics rise, rugby has been overshaowed amongst the younger generation unfortunately. The kids follow football now wigan did ok last season.

But to pick on your kid for wearing a warriors shirt is stupid.

What has he done to our club? He doesn't play on the pitch. He doesn't coach the team. He doesn't even choose the players. It's not even his job to sack the players who are not performing. Not forgetting, of course, that we might not even have a club anymore if it weren't for his money...

I used to watch football (Preston) and i have no intrest in it now. I have always watched warriors as well. Lost intrest in football as the bad attitude of players (Not all) is relected in the scally following football has. I have even had preston fans who i have not seen in years getting in contact with me just to abuse me. It seems very sad to me. I also work in salford so i get it from them to, but its not as bad and is fairly friendly. Why do people with no intrest in rugby feel the need to give anyone a hard time over something they have no intrest in beats me. Just goes to show what tiny minded people they are

I was walking on the beach at Walney island and one soft sausage called me a big fat egg from their car.
I dont know if they were Latics fans or not but us rugby fans have that sort of ignorance to put up with all the time.

Which is only to be expected. They are kids and kids are cruel. If your son was the only one wearing an RL top and going against the majority he made himself the prime target. Kids like being part of a group and as a group often pick on the one who does not conform.

It is not nice but that is the way it is. It happens all the time over other issues.

Your son has got some guts for wearing his top and showing his loyalty to his team but I am just not surprised he got the stick he did. I hope it hasn't put him off wearing it but even if we were not relegation fodder he would probably have still got the goading just because he was differnt.

Unless it was out and out bullying I would not bother myself as I do think it would make it worse. Bullying is a different thing altogether so if there was any of that I'd be in to see the headmaster like a shot.

to be honest, it just wouldn't work, and anyway, why do you think we sing Wigan till I die?

FC United are the only one of those three that realistically have any chance of success, and that's mostly down to the publicity they got during the formation and the fact they'll have some pretty rich people behind the club. Don't kid yourself into thinking they're just a bunch of normal fans paying their £30 or whatever to watch a game who have clubbed together to start a new team, there are plenty of ex-United shareholders bankrolling that team. I can't see the same level of interest, both financially and in terms of publicity and player interest, being given to a new Wigan team. You'd be better off going and supporting one of the many amateur teams around the area instead.
