killing off the game?

is anyone a little frustrated at our inability of late to kill off a game when our fantstic first half performances are getting us into these brilliant situations and we are just letting it slide...bradford and leeds for example, beating them in games we arguably should have won, would have done wonders for our boys and their confidence.
i know its inexperience but i talked to nick graham briefly after the bradford game and he brought up this very point, i bet he will have been thinking it again after tuesday? the games 80 minutes and if we cna only play for 40 we aint gona get anywhere, no matter how proud of them we are.

I know exactly what you mean and it is very frustrating especially after having a good lead at half time. However, there is a really obvious reason that we cant kill teams off in the second half.We are just not fit,big or strong enough mentally and physically. When the young lads come out for the first half they are fresh and full of energy and able to put in that bit of extra effort that will match the size and power of other teams. After around 50 minutes this energy is completely sapped and legs start to tire,a few big drives from the likes of Joe Vagana or Barrie Mcdermott and it starts eating away in the minds of these inexperienced lads.
Lets not forget that only after Craig Smith went off against Bradford did we actually start to lose grip of the game and then against Leeds when O'Connor went off we started to get pushed backwards. What we need is some luck with our injurys to our forwards and then we will start to kill teams off.The trouble is we just are not getting any luck,i hear Craig Smith could be out for up to 3 months now!

I would agree that we are not doing this due to a lack of physical presence but to say that they are not mentally tough i think is a little harsh. it is important that the two games highlighted were against the two form teams in the comp. and despite our obvious lack of size and fatigue in the latter stages of the match we clung on in 1 and just lost the other and turned saints over. To manage to keep going and hold on against leeds after they scored 10 unanswered points and with all the momentum against them in my opinion shown tremendous mental toughness. These men have matured no end over the last few weeks and despite there physicall disadvantage they are stronger mentally than any other team i have seen in the comp this year.
