Has anyone seen this news item on the official warriors site?
Wigan Warriors are looking for a rugby-mad family who would be prepared to host a Catalan family next weekend.

A Catalan journalist and his family (2 adults and 3 children) are travelling to the game, flying in to Liverpool on Saturday night and looking to spend time with a Wigan family.

He will be writing a story about Wigan as the true hot bed of Rugby League.

The Warriors are asking the family to host the French party in their home for Saturday and Sunday night, to perhaps show them around Wigan on the Sunday and then enjoy the game with them on Sunday night.

The journalist will be working from the press box for the game so it is important the host family can show a great Wigan welcome to the remaining family members.

I do hope they find some-one who can help them out, or may be some one on here can help out.

This was mentioned at riversiders meeting and they said the family prefer not to be split up. Anybody run a hotel that offers free accomodation? I doubt it!

Eyy! That sounds like fun, shame it's not my house to offer :( Think its a bit cheeky of Wigan RL to be asking the host to sort out a party as well as offer em free accomodation, what are they offering this family? Am sure Whelans got a few spare rooms.

That's a good ploy isn't it. Makes me feel daft for shelling out money on hotels and match tickets when I went to France, one enquiring email to the club and I could have got it all for free, provided I took my camera of course, d'oh!

It's not a ploy, it's just a journalist wanting to get a real feel of the game over here from the fans' perspective, and what better way to do that than stay with them and take in the whole day rather than just conduct an interview at the game?

I think it will provide some good material for an interesting feature, and RL could do with all the positive publicity it can get in France because of rugby union's attitude over there.

It is a bit cheeky to drag the whole damn family with him/her as well, though! Who's got that kind of space going free in a normal family home?

I must say that in return for putting them up this weekend they will put the person and their family up in France for the weekend when Wigan play them next year.

If you've got the room then you'd get a free weekend in France, hopefully next summer!
