I just get the feeling he's not that bothered about Wigan RLFC.

Infact maybe he's be happy to see the team in NL1. He's got Wigan FC in the premiership and with footballers wages these days filling up The JJB for a footy game is more important than a RL match.

By demoting your RL club, many fans will turn there backs on RL and start filling the stadium for football.....thats the crack anyhow..... :conf:

I'm not trying to stirr up trouble. Its just a conspiracy theory doing the rounds but if you think about it there may be some truth.

How much would it cost for a season ticket for both Football and RL. If Whelan dumps RL he can concentrate on filling the stadium for all those overpaid Prima donnas

But these rumours never explain why he needs to concentrate on one over the other. Why should what happens with the rugby team have any impact on the soccer team? He can concentrate on filling the stadium for the Latics all he wants, but getting rid of us doesn't give them more fixtures to have more games and bring in more money! Indeed, given that we're currently operating at a profit, it may be that some of our surplus is going towards financing them, or the running costs of the stadium at least. Getting rid of us cuts off that income stream, and so makes little sense. If we were losing money then maybe there'd be some substance to this, but unless he could sell us for a profit then I suspect it's a load of rubbish like 98% of the rumours and theories floating around.
