Johnson & Hodgson

I really dont think that these two players are up to a championship winning side and i wouldnt be adverse to them leaving in the offseason in favour of other super league teams. I think that the likes of Cas, Widnes, Warrington, London would love them and think that they would do a good job for them but dont think that they are top 4team players. If as it appears we are to bring in an overseas centre think there will be alot of conjestion in our back line and i personally would like to keep Aspinwall as i think he shows signs of pure quality that Hodgson and Johnson lack. I would like perhaps to bring in a player like Adam Hughes to cover the 2 positions left if they were to depart as he covers similar positions and would only leave us paying 1 wage rather than 2. Any thoughts? Criticisms of this idea?

I think that Hodgson is a really good player he has speed he is good at creating tries and not bad in defence either.
Don't forget he is only 21/22 so I.M.O he will be a G.B player in the future!!

Cant believe that u think johnson and hodgeson arent up to playing at wigan warriorjon. For one they have both had there share of injuries over the past season or so.
I think that johnson is the most valuable player for wigan at the mo, ok he might not have had the best games of his career but he has been able to play at other positions that raper has asked him to i mean it cant be easy swapping from position to position each week.
Hodgeson i think will be back to his best very soon!

I rate PJ quite highly for his versatility but at the rate he is going at the moment he is going to get himself a lenghty ban with all these high shots!!

I know that versitility is important this year but i also think that is we are to challenge consistently for honours then we need specialist players. Johnson in my opinion has the size and stregnth on a second row but lacks the defencive technique and ability, and lacks the hands of a centre with some very dodgy passing. Hodgson on the other hand although very steady away and a good squad player i personally think tends to struggle in defence dont think his pace is electrifying and his hands are not world class. Now dont get me wrong i do think that these players are good solid players and would be welcome in most other squads but at the moment with salary cap etc. it is a game of juggling numbers and players, in my opinion these 2 players could be replaced by 1 signing lowering the wages and covering both the positions that these 2 covers.

And he can't play the ball properly! He always tries to play it with the side of his foot (never the sole) and he usually doesn't even get close to making contact with the ball.
The coaches should address this - One of these days its going to cost us - mark my words...

I have never rated Johnson as a great player but i feel he is the kind who will come good as he gets older.I dont rate him at all in the centre or on the wing but i think his best position is Second Row.He is very agressive (sometimes OTT) and hes a very hard tackler and runner.I certainly wouldnt let him go anywhere just yet as i feel he will come good with age.
Hodgson IMO is going to turn into a great centre. The lad has only played about 20 games in the centre position and is still only young. He has very good speed despite what the above poster said, good hands and his defence has improved lots since last year.I think he has now found his position in the team and will become a really good long striding centre in a few years.

I wont be convinced about his pace and as stated earlier where will hodgson play next year? Would you prefer to see Hodgson in the centre than Aspinwall? As it appears that we are about to sign a centre for next year, so that leaves the wing, but with Carney already signed, Brisco looking to be a true star in the making and Hodgson competeing for the 1 spot. Now im all for competition but equally so hodgson wont be playing in the centres so will be lacking the experience that he needs to gain.

Theyre average players but not upto standard at the moment if you compare them to Bradford's Saints' Leeds' and Hull's centres. But theyre doinga satisfying job.
Ive never really rated hodgson. But Johnson used to be world class. I wonder whether the death of his brother has affected his form.
Maybe we should give them both time and see how things go.
