What did he mean by he wouold not play for them for free?
That Wigan had asked him to do this, this season?
Normally if you are saying you won't work for someone as you really don't want to, it is not that you won't work for them for
free but that you would not work for them for all the money in the world etc
Saying he would not work for us for free us a curious turn of phrase

So he is quite happy at Bradford then?

He set up two tries tonight and i'm sorry but i'm going to take your speculation causciously and he would be great to have back. One of Grahams tries and one of Longs was down to Newton and despite pedantic booing, he was the influence in those tries. Especially the dummy to allow Gleeson to make the run and put the ball back inside

Totally agree with you. Higham and Godwin definately the best for wigan.

Almost implies the club had made an offer that said something like, "we'll sign you for three years, but for the first year you'll have to play for free because we're at our salary cap limit. However, by releasing more players we will have money next year and the year after so we'll pay your first year's salary mixed in with those other two years". I know that's not really playing for free, but it could be seen that he'd have no income for the first few months of his contract, if my completely made-up guesswork is correct.
