Religation, a thought

From what I have read on academy players would it not be an idea to somehow incorperate the academy points into the religation formulae. This would ensure all clubs would have a vested interest in ensuring a good pool of young blood ready to enhanse our game without the constant flow of southern hemisphere players and managers. Just a thought. If Wigan were to go down what happens to these players. They to have an interest in remaining linked to a super league team. Their endevours should have a baring on the outcome. HC

No I dont think thats a good idea, Take for instance the U21 teams spanning leagues (Wigan, Leigh...) you cant incorporate points spanning 2 first team leagues, if you know what I mean. Another point is that some U21 set-ups are very very poor in deed. Clubs like Salford dont have them in place as well as Wigan or Leeds... if Batley get into Super League there is no way their U21 set-up will be as good as the current 12 or so teams at present.

I kno what you're saying about keeping our youngsters at the clubs and bringing them trough, it was discussed on sky last night, but i dont think bringing in points is the answer. Currently wigan U21s are 4th? and we are 10th in SL, whereas wakefield U21s are much lower and that will be unfair to wigan stay up due to the U21s season, even last season when Wigan won the U21 season, it wasnt reflected in what the first team did.

hnik there are other ways HC

I think this new salary cap structure will go a long way to improving the production of young players. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea - "well done to the RFL", which is a line you don't hear very often!

Have I missed something here. What new structure are you talking about?

Read DaveO's post in the "Salary Cap FAQ" notice.
