The GB squad seems rather light-'waite' in terms of forwards, especially in the front row. David Waite seems to be sticking to the same formula which has lost against the Kiwis and the Aussies in the last couple of years. There's no obvious replacement for O'Connor in the pack, and I really think we're lacking muscle in the team. Danny Sculthorpe is in the A-team, but surely he's worth a place in the 1st team? Waite has gone for too many backs and halves, with particularly too many loose-forward-cum-stand-off type players in the team. Not impressive in my opinion, unless he pursuades Morley to play prop instead of 2nd row. The only good thing is that lardy Wellens hasn't been picked...

lol i agree about wellens, hes too fat for fullback.

Danny should have been in that GB squad, i also feel briers should have been called up rather than deacon who is a rather ordinary player in my eyes.

I feel he has selected too many old players when everyone knows that there is a great amount of youth coming through in superleague. I feel the younger players should have been given the nod over the older guys so as to allow Team GB to build for the future.

I hope im proved wrong i really do.

i think we need a player like fozzad against the auzzie's because he can bash there forwards about aswell, also we need wingers/fullbacks that will return kicks well and take 2 runs from dummy half if it takes it to fget out the 10 like carney and johnson.
Its not to late for people to be brought in though yet.

I cannot see why Deacon is in the squad. He showed his real self on Wednesday - he is not a world class scrum half, just an average player who happens to be good at kicking.

How Danny is not included is beyond belief recently he must have been the form prop in the SL so his omission is very suprising.

Wellens doesn't deserve to be in, but listening to the bald one last night he is the best thing since sliced bread!

I would have hoped that more youth would have got in because some of the youngsters would have terrified the Aussies, Leeds and us have some wonderful talent but David Waite must not think that they are old enough. Having seen our kids i think that this is total rubbish, when they are that young and talented they play with flair and enthusiam but most importantly they play without fear.

I am affraid that with this chosen squad we will get comprehensively beaten when the Green & Gold arrive.

Come on David prove me wrong

Caught the back end of the super league show on BBC2 yesterday where Paul Sculthorpe was the guest. I got the impression that his midweek hamstring problem had been genuine whereas when they asked him about Sean Long and the fact that he played on Friday (without any strapping on his hand or in any apparent discomfort) he said it was up to the club 'as they pay his wages' thereby implying that it was a club decision to withdraw Lean Snog from the Origin game rather than an injury
