Just a thought, but with all the debate on whether Orr should have been kept or stayed & fight for his place, how much do you think should have been done to retain Dobbo? IMO orr's form improved after we had got Dobbo on loan & so did the teams performance. I kow he wanted to go back to Oz but IMO a couple of seasons playing alongside Trent Barrett & we would have had a world class No7

Nothing we could do to keep him mate! He was not our player to keep! He belongs to Canbera! Would have been nice though! I think Leului will look a decent player though. Not as controlled or as organised as Dobson, but a real live wire, who will benefit from playing alongside an old head such as Barrett!

didnt he say he wanted to mae it over in australia? all the best to him, and IMO the right decision, as he WILL return a better player (hopefully)

Nothing because it was a complete waste of time given Dobbos contractual situation and desire to go back to his club.

It is interesting to speculate how he would have gone a full season with us in 2007.

He made a huge difference in his first game for us with his tactical kicking but kicking aside (both tactical and goal kicking) it did IMO take him until about three games from the end of his stint with us to have any great impact other than that. He was prior to those games just far more solid and dependable than Moran without doing anything spectacular with Orr making the breaks possibly knowing he had someone he could depend on as his partner.

It will be interesting to see if a Lulu/Barrett combination offers anything more than the Dobbo/Orr one of the last three or so games of 2006, especially considering the former pair will both be on much more money than the players they replace.

It would certaintly have had me in a less cautious and pessimisstic view if we could have retained Dobson as we would have had a bit of consistency with players but I very much doubt anything we could offer would have made a difference.

I think Dobson is a good player and he did his best for Wigan but I do think that some people over rated Dobson, he was great at kicking but he was no more than average as a scrum half in playing terms. Remember Wigan fans had been watching Denis Moran for two years so anyone would seem better compared to his performances at Wigan.

Dobson's impact was important to Wigan but the reason the team improved with Dobson is because they had a proper scrum half playing, Moran and Orr were to similar both opportunists with no one directing the basic play. Dobson came and was the distributor, he was the one who would choose were the ball was going that meant that Orr no longer had to do that and could play is normal game again which is taking on the defence and looking for gaps he no longer had to worry about passing and controlling the play which was left to Dobson.

Dobson my not be the dynamic player that people like Barrett are but Dobson organisation was key last year. Every team needs someone organising the attack and that does not have to be the captain I'm hoping that Barrett will be doing that job next year.

according to a close friend of mine who spoke to Dobbo in regular occasions he really enjoyed his time and would love to return one day but at his age he wants to return home and establish himself in Aus...

Dobson made a great impact... he kicked most of his attemps at goal and scored the only hat- trick of 06 for the warriors.
