Anybody else out there wondering what the hell has happened to allegedly the best prop forward in the whole wide world. I'm now championing for O'Carroll to start the next game in place of Fielden. :o

So he had one bad game.
You might as well ask Wire to drop Morley on this basis.
I think however, that lack of props could make some of our players lazy, as there are limited threats to their positions. O'Carroll has certainly justified his place in the 17, but to drop him in at the deep end will not help his future development.

Problem at the moment is clubs are targeting Fielden, if you look at the Warrington game again he gets hit by three and four players on every run determined to put him down.

The players are not targeting O'Carroll, although he did come up against some three and four man tackles and did well, plus O'Carroll is a very good offloader. I would agree O'Carroll his looking better than Fielden at the moment.

I think Wigan need to work on getting players away from Fielden so he is not running into 3 and 4 men tackles every match, perhaps have Feka and Fielden running at the same time so players can't commit to just one. Against Bradford last season their forwards targeted Fielden which meant that Feka had more space to run and he was outstanding in that match, although Feka was poor against Warrington.

It appears that there is no one on the pitch saying, "this is the problem, this is how we solve it", there is only so much information the coach can give the players during the match, so one needs to stand up and tell the players what to do. If you want to blame O'Loughlin's captaincy then you can but sure Fletcher, Fielden or Barrett could do the organising.

Fielden CANNOT be expected to win games on his own, every week. Like from A to B has said, he had a bad game last night, so what, give him a chance, we are only one game into the new season.

We dont have loads of props, so we cant have Fielden who acn play 80mins on the bench. He is being marked out the game which has been said in previous posts, this is making him less of an impact.

How can you say fielden had a bad game? so what, he didnt make any breaks or mega drives, but he did play the full 80mins (i think) and made his fair share of yards and isnt that a props job??

There's no point victimising Fielden for one bad performance, as many players had bad games on Friday, although I have to admit I'm a bit worried that other teams will target Fielden and his "glass jaw" and that he won't have the same influence on the field that he did before the Tri-Nations.

After O'Carrols first performance last year i posted on here that he is an awesome player for his age and is alot better than Prescott and Hargreaves, he has now proved that and on fridays performance was the best prop on the field by far even better than the two GB props. Hope to see alot more of him. :D

I thought that fielden had a very good work rate on Friday. He was solid in defence and took the ball up a lot. O Carrol also impressed me, very strong going forward and will keep improving all season.

ok lets out things in perspective here:
Fielden did not play all that well, yes he was marked out of the game and therefore could not play his normal game( so that was good man mangement on warringtons part), there game plan worked ours did not if in fact we had one.
O,Carroll played very well partly because of the attention Fielden was receiving, but there is an old adage in sport "if you are good enough you are old enough", this young lad is good enough and i for one would like to see him starting the games, to get used to the intensity at the beggining of games, that type of experience is in valuable.
As for not starting Fielden, well that is not an option he was brought into the club to be a pack leader.May be he is still thinking about the death of his mother and who can blame him.Fielden will come good as will the team.

Come on you Wiganners get behind the boys .
