Just a quick one: Lindsay has said he does not want Carney back at the JJB, apparently he has a sour taste in his mouth over how Carney conducted his exit from the JJB.

He played his heart out for Wigan and don't anyone forget it.
As long as we also remember the months he was out injured only to be miraculously fit ready for GB...
A decent player, but one that never fully lived up to his potential I think. We could and should have had a bit more out of the lad.

Definitely. I have great memories of Carney when we knocked Saints out of the playoffs but his last year with us was a real let down. The way he wanted (and got) out of the last year of his contract doesn't sit well with me. He had already secured his desire to play in Aus by signing up for GC after his Wigan contract expired.
He should have given us 100% in that last year. Thatwould have been the sign of a true pro and I am sure he would have left with everyone's best wishes had he done so.
Instead we let him go a year early and now he has played for the same Aussie club as his mates he doesn't want to honour his commitment to GC. I thought when he went to play at Newcastle he would never play at GC. I expected him to try and wangle a longer deal at Newcastle but the Aussies are far better than us at making sure players honour their side of the bargain so there was no chance of that.
So now he is back here why would anyone trust him to play a full season with us given his recent record of walking away from his commitments?
Dave

Noble is definitely a fan of Carney, and if it's true and the Irishman is due to be freed from his contract at GC, then it may all suddenly depend on how Pat Richards performs in his next few matches.
No way can Wigan afford to have another season where their most expensive wing three-quarter takes six months to warm up. His goal-kicking might come into it as well. If he starts putting them over, that may decide the matter, but on last Friday's form, it looks unlikely.
Personally, I don't think Pat Richards has the temperament for SL. He seems immobile in cold weather, looks feeble in the face of a stiff challenge. Carney may have let us down badly in his last season, but at least we know he'll carry the fight to the enemy.
